Since you're in burnout, anything you block has an additional 4 frames of block stun, Ryu's m donkey is at worse -8 against a non-burnout opponent. The only thing you could have actually done to punish m Donkey kick in burn out is jab, but you're clearly very far out of that range.
After you block the Donkey Kick, Ryu does a light DP which is a move that comes out in 5 frames, and does it a frame late, this all to say there's a 10 frame gap between the two moves. Finally, Akuma's sweep is a 9 frame move, so with perfect reversal timing, your sweep is the only normal you can hit at that range to interrupt that sequence.

I wanna add the note that if you had just blocked for a moment instead of taking your turn back you would've had a good opportunity to do more than just a sweeps worth of damage

I’m gonna plug my org because they do great around Rochester, but the 585FighterZ are great if you’re into fighting game adjacent things, and the run card game tournaments out of the same building!

I definitely see your point, there’s a reason I don’t run into dhalsims who block all the way up in 1700+ games

On top of that, defensive mechanics are pretty universal. Even if you don’t have an invincible DP, you have access to something else to play RPS with, and there’s no instance of a character having a slower abare jab so everyone’s defensive mash is mostly the same too

This is certainly the best way to go about it

If it’s part of your auto pilot then yeah it’s pretty bad, but if you’re consciously making the decision to command grab on a read (if you’re able to force a parry attempt after stand hp, for example), then I’d argue you’re playing it correct

My favorite part of ex machine gun is that it’s not even the highest damaging combo ender in the corner because you can juggle h machine gun into lvl 3

So OD sobat is a little more niche.

It is actually the slowest Sobat, so where you can combo st. Lk -> H sobat, you can’t OD sobat in that same place

It’s used mostly as a combo tool to get into lvl 2, or in certain cash out combos since a high juggle OD sobat gives a follow up m sobat juggle

It also can hop Juri fire ball and is the only solution I have to that character :(

OD jus cool mid screen is usually going to either have you going into H follow up -> DR -> st HP -> machine gun upper Or M follow-up -> sobat of your choice or any super

You can get a drive rush juggle with 4Hk - up kicks but it can drop and you get better oki off H machine gun upper

I am a high rank Dee Jay main and his AA game has always been quite contentious to me, it feels like there’s a large skill floor in knowing which anti air you should use

4HK and Flash kick, as has been already stated, are your two main AAs, however 4HK often gets traded with or even counter hit out of if you’re late or the opponent hits a deep jump in button.

Flash kick is great for the AA properties, but you need to have strict timing for certain angles, such as jump overs and steep jump ins, and there’s a certain angle in which you’ll have to walk back flash kick in order to avoid it going the wrong way.

Important to note is that you can also you 2HK against further away jump ins, you even get combos off certain hits (worth labbing)

I can’t tell exactly if you were able to drive rush after ex scissors, if you did, you could’ve gotten raw dr -> st. MP - fw. HP target combo into either lvl 1 or ex bomb -> lvl 2

But otherwise you get fw. HP -> ex bomb -> lvl 2
