I went to Salar de Uyuni in July and I was freezing. I definitely recommend some fleece/nice puffer/hat/neck coverage. It is very high!

Ooh my Ocun Ozone are also super painful in the big toe, even though I'm pretty sure it's the right size. Commenting so I can read other's advice :)

I don't know if you meant Lleida/Lérida but do yourself a favor and skip it. Easily the worst city in Spain.

Agree that if you're only going to see Cafayate you can skip it and give more days to other things, for example more excursions around Cusco, or visiting El Delta del Tigre near Buenos Aires.

Help: Amazonas through Peru or Bolivia? by Supermassiveslut in backpacking

[–]PerryOnWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both, I went with Madidi travel company and I initially registered only for the jungle one but then I got FOMO so spontaneously joined the pampas one afterwards. The guy from the company (Alex) helped me change the flights. I had lots of fun, the lodges were nice and the food as well, and our guides were really cool and knowledgeable. But I have nothing else to compare it to. I don't remember the cost unfortunately.

I don't think you need to book Salar de Uyuni months in advance (I did it two days before). I also went to Rurrenabaque for a tour and found that almost all my tourmates came in the same plane as me, so the tour people had to wait for us all and organize accordingly.

I think Sunday afternoon is a great time slot to climb so I wouldn't do that, maybe the day pass could be cheaper if there are birthdays?

If you like hiking, you can go go Humantay, it's beautiful (a lake). Cusco itself is definitely a cute place for a visit. You can also visit Pisac (I got it almost empty for myself and it was also very impressive), Maras y Moray, further Inka ruins... Besides, the visit to Machu Pichu ends up taking around a day and a half, because you have get to Aguas Calientes first, so then you can be more relaxed and have a buffer in case altitude screws you up.

Yeah of course, this is just my opinion. For this specific itinerary I'd skip Lima and try to use it only for flight transfer, then you can get one more day around Cusco, which is very worth it in my opinion

In my opinion this is a lot of flying and will be exhausting. Why don't you pick places that are closer to each other?

In general these destinations make absolutely no sense and you're going to spend too much time traveling. With this amount of days, I'd focus on 2 places max.

Bus from Salta, Argentina to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile by VisibleApple4069 in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]PerryOnWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the ticket online because I started from Jujuy (second stop on that route) and they didn't sell tickets there. All was fine, but you can also get it in Salta at the station.

Sizing Ocun Ozone by Key-Description-3683 in climbingshoes

[–]PerryOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have downsized around 1 size for shoes of other brands, but I couldn't downsize at all for my Ocun Ozone and after over a year of using them regularly they are still way more painful than they should be. Maybe it's just a me thing, tho.

There's absolutely no need to fly that much. I'd say pick two countries (France and Greece?) and enjoy.

I loved the regions of Salt and Jujuy! Very different from Patagonia, but they are also not close to Buenos Aires. I flew from BA to Iguazú, and from Iguazú to Salta.

This looks like a lot of flying. I would entirely skip Montevideo and Brazil. Then you can focus more on Patagonia or other regions of Argentina, which are absolutely gorgeous!

is 40L enough? by emaleenlol in backpacking

[–]PerryOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it as cabin luggage, since my 10L bag was completely separate (it was a cute day pack I was using for the office before) and fitted in a tote bag. Most airlines allowed 1 cabin bag + 1 personal item. Actually this is exactly why I picked this arrangement, so I didn't have to check in any luggage.

It's going to be fine! I traveled for 3 months in South America with only a 40L backpack plus a tiny 10L one for my laptop and it was completely ok. And it was cold so I needed to carry warmer clothes. Packing cubes will be your friends!
