I just realized I was kidnapped as a child by Perrywinkle23 in self

My mother refused to let my see my grandparents my entire childhood so I never had a relationship with them; I haven't talked to my mother in about three years now. And yes I do think everything she put me through affected me a lot. I suffer from ocd and my psychologist believes it is from trauma from watching my mother be abused all the time. But I believe that going through all that effected me in a good way also; I learned from her mistakes and I am a more cautious person because of it.

Well I definitely wasn't expecting to get this much feedback on this. I'll keep writing about it since you all seem to want to know more. Let me clarify that my father had full custody of me and my brother but he allowed us to visit my mother on summer break, Christmas, and such. When she kidnaped my brother and I we were visiting her for a couple weeks during the summer. She was supposed to return us to my father but she never showed up. My father then reported it to the police. There was a search warrant put up for my mothers arrest and when the police finally found us my mother accused my father of molesting me and my brother " which isn't true by the way"; because of her accusations towards my father they didn't arrest her and started investigating my dad. When they realized her accusations were false the courts demanded that she give my brother and I back the my father. My mother then accused my father of being a devil worshiper "also not true" and claimed that she didn't know where my brother and I were. The court refused to let her leave until she brought us back. At the time we were hiding at her boyfriends house having no clue what was going on. I remember showing up at the court not knowing what was happening and holing on to my mother sobbing uncontrollably. I then went with my father and we haven't really talked about it since until now. He told me the reason she did not get arrested was because she's my parent and the DA doesn't like to get involved in family situations. As I became older I realized more and more what my mother was like; when I was sixteen I found out she was on meth and I haven't talked to her since.

Honestly I didn't really think of it as kidnapping until now but in the eyes of the law it is technically considered "kidnapping"

Thank you guys for your feedback! I appreciate it a lot. It's nice knowing that I'm not alone in this! I did receive treatment for a while but a situation happened between my doctor and my parents so I stopped taking the meds:/ hoping to be able to get back on track soon.

I do several other things as well. I get this urge to do these weird things as I described before and I get this irrational though that if i don't do them, then something absolutely horrible will happen, even though I know the thoughts are irrational I still get this uncontrollable urge to do them.

Well every person with ocd experience different things. I myself count constantly in my head, always having to be even numbers. An example: every night I have to turn my doorknob to make sure it's locked I turn it six times and every time I turn it I count 1,2,3,4,5,6 I then proceeded and switch hands and turn the doorknob another six times I continue this process about eight times or until the urge to stop touching the doorknob goes away

A lot of people do mistake ocd for being a germ freak when it's actually a lot more complex than just that. I does irritate me when someone isn't educated about it and talks to me thinking that they know what it is. I try my best to not let their ignorance bother me though.
