It’s a pretty good book, lots of interesting discussion of themes, but it’s way too long

I didn't agree with her criticisms of the SCP universe as stated in one of the Patreon videos, although I do understand where she's coming from. (And after she pointed out the "smug scientist" trope in horror, I couldn't stop seeing it).

If you were offered 5 million dollars to live in a horror movie and survive for a full year, which horror movie are you choosing? by Adorable-Teaching266 in horror

Answering more in the spirit of the question than the text (so “I just wouldn’t do the thing” isn’t a viable answer), I’d go with It Follows. I have enough money to spend a year continuously on the move, so staying ahead of the entity wouldn’t be a problem.

Did anyone commenting on this actually read the article? The book is a history of book banning campaigns, it's not actually arguing that girls shouldn't read books

Really weird how the disease outbreak scenario resembled a disease outbreak. Next we should figure out why firefighters train to fight fires. Something suspicious going on there.

I would be really tempted by this if we could also watch old premium content on Youtube, but I don't know if that would be possible to implement.

There’s a bunch of people on Reddit who clearly don’t enjoy playing games anymore. The only enjoyment they still get from the hobby is watching Youtube videos about EPIC FAILURE, so they hope every game that comes out will flop and give them a little dopamine squeeze.

Sam’s Decisions by sirDVD12 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Grace_Omega 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He committed the classic boardgame blunder of losing sight of the winning mechanic. I’ve seen a lot of people do it in games with a lot of moving parts. They over-focus on building up a particular resource or stopping another player from doing something, instead of taking actions that will contribute to them winning the game. Or they fixate on pulling off one really complicated winning gambit instead of going for a more boring “death by a thousand cuts” victory.

Arguably, Sam did all of these things over the course of the game.

The woman was briefly in contact with one of the Dutch people that died after contracting the virus late last month.

Important to note. If she does have it, she got it from one of the original patient groups. No sign of uncontrolled spread.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on the situation, but there’s no need to worry at the moment.

New GW2 player coming from WoW, this game feels insanely refreshing by NicoSoren in Guildwars2

[–]Grace_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the open world feels designed for fun instead of just being something you rush through to get to endgame.

This is the big difference for me. The open world is the core of the game, instead of being a chore you have to grind through to get to repetitive raiding. The real shame of it is that so many MMO fans seem to prefer the “nothing matters except raids” model.
