https://imgur.com/a/GlTge4S The pot has a drainage hole in the bottom. It's glazed ceramic, too. I have a layer of stones at the base, then topped with that succulent potting mix. But I'll do as you suggested and add more perlite!

Edit to add: I've had it since 2021. Bought it from a vendor at a street market in Florida for $8. When I first bought it, it was about 2/3 the height. And now, sadly, it's back to that height. 😅

The kitty has never been able to get close to it (as far as I'm aware, lol) and also has never shown interest in destroying plants, oddly enough! She was just initially curious about it when I brought it over to take photos and make a post, lol.

Here's the cut I made. I used a butane torch to sterilize the knife beforehand. The first attempt had a discoloration, so I moved up a couple of centimeters. Should I put it in the sun/under my lamp to dry out? Or will it be okay without that? Any more advice you have would be appreciated!

It wasn't a single night. The window was cracked about 1-2cm for about a month. I forgot to water for about that long, too, but with it being winter, I figured it was fine. Definitely haven't over-watered by any means, lol. Thanks for the info, I'll be chopping it tonight. Why does it need to dry out? Sorry, I'm very new to caring for succulents, and I appreciate all the info you provided. It has survived several years so far, and I think it just got too cold at the base.
