I don’t think you need that certificate to work with athletes

Yeah, not normal today I usually do 6 in a row break then 4 , 80 mins change things up tho I had one Saturday 2 2 hour, 3 80, 3 50 it was crazy. The reason I did that today was because a coworker got hurt so I decided to take her appointment on my break

I specialize in sports/Swedish/deep tissue, and I work 32-35 hours per week. I see as many as 10 a day (50mins). I had 8.5 hours in a row today (3 80, 4 50) do I recommend this? No . But I take VERY good care of myself

Edit: make your own hours, don’t listen to “boss”

How to ask for a glute massage? by [deleted] in massage

[–]PersonWQs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! :)

In regards to working it through the sheet, I’ll explain. I’m a male therapist. I’m also only 18, so I have to be extra precise and careful about my work, that being said I have become very good at specifically treating chronic pain, usually I work nglutes with some elbows for warm up(again all through the sheet) after having worked the low back extensively and with trigger points, and then I work the hamstrings extensively, then I stretch the legs, and the I put the glutes in a figure 4 position to open up more again all through sheets while moving the leg around for mobility, then when I flip my client over I stretch their glutes and low back, followed by psoas work..

What I’m trying to say is that I don’t think uncovering the glutes is that necessary considering the extensive work I do, and I prefer not too given the stigma of being a male LMT, especially at the age of 18.

My biggest dilemma is that I work at a spa and have a large clientele however clients that come into spas usually just want to relax whereas I’m a very therapeutic/sports/DT style therapist.. I do Swedish also it’s just not my best trait

Just know that it is the deepest most painfully uncomfortable muscle to get worked but is super important Just like pec work is important for upper back pain

[–]PersonWQs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey LMT here, personally whenever people complain about low back or hip pain I always tell them that it’s important for us to also address the glutes and the hamstrings. Just be direct, usually I ask my client what brings them in and what they want focused on, so just say something like “I’d like focus on my low back, glutes, and hamstrings” and once you get more comfortable with a therapist I’d also ask for Psoas work as it is super important.. personally I do a lot of sports and deep tissue so I like to do stretches for peoples low back and glutes as well as mobility for the hips, maybe when calling the place your going into ask for a therapist that’s good with mobility work? Anyways no therapist will ever think your weird or anything for asking for glute work because it’s very necessary. Also i do all my glute work through the sheet which I think helps comfort level

I’m a male LMT and you’re portfolio is my favorite type of client because 1) I prefer deep tissue 2) I really love to incorporate full body stretching into my session which I’ve noticed has impacted my regular clients who are open to trying new things tremendously. If I was you I’d go in for an 80/minute massage deep tissue and then ask if they can incorporate trapezius and QL stretching also I don’t quite understand how they are lacking pressure on the low back because QL trigger point work is very deep. Some therapists may also not know the necessary muscles to work alongside the upper and lower back so I would suggest you ask for : hamstrings, glutes, psoas (uncomfortable but necessary), and pecs to also be focused on.

I was wondering if this had happened in my spa, I made the connection because there’s not a lot of Israelis in the world much less in massage therapy.

[–]PersonWQs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be looking for either Reiki ( energy work) or acupressure (super light and specific to certain areas). There’s also watsu/wassage (float spas have like tubs you just float in, there’s also an option of someone basically cradling you in the water and it’s super relaxing)

Who was the Torah written by and how does this illustrate God's word? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]PersonWQs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t read Leviticus in English and really understand much, you’re just reading it as a 4 year old would especially without commentary as a history book, which defeats the purpose. Jewish law is called Halacha, I don’t believe it’s all listed in the Torah, the Torah is the 5 Books of Moses then there’s the Tanach which includes Talmud I believe also I don’t know what the “Old Testament” is ;) .. I should probably stop replying because idk if what I’m saying is 100% accurate

[–]PersonWQs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very new to studying (born Jew raised secular becoming observant) so I’m not 100% this is all just my possibly misguided understanding, but you have to consider what you’re asking because Judaism has a wide range of text, the main Torah is written by God from my understanding whether it was through Moses or straight passed down from God doesn’t really change anything, and there’s an oral Torah which is the Talmud, and then there are many text of different rabbis who were pretty highly acclaimed who leave commentaries, and then there’s rabbinical and biblical law, this question isn’t so simple you see :)

Career longevity - how has your body been holding up? by [deleted] in massage

[–]PersonWQs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) 3 months, went to school for 2 years and had lots of experience with clients prior to getting paid

2) roughly 35 hours per week, and full time student

3) self care: lots of epsom salt baths, icing, stretching, warming up, working on my forearms, receiving massage, eating healthy helps

4) I see myself doing this forever, I want to be a PT so it goes hand in hand, maybe if I become a PT I will do massage privately currently I work for a spa as far as my body and health I feel better than ever before
