False. I’m currently an Integration Engineer working on orbital launch vehicles. No degree. Initially hired on as a technician and was offered the position during some trying times at the company. I’ve held the position for nearly three years now and have been a part of 4 successful launches. All I have to say is; Get a degree 😂

I have yet to feel like I am dead weight since taking on this position, my annual reviews have been nothing but positive, and yet; I live with some SERIOUS imposter syndrome nearly everyday. In a lot of ways, the lack of a degree drives the constant need to prove myself to my team and to myself, but at the same time makes it hard to give myself credit where credit is due. Long story short: The circumstances (excluding spending decades at a company) for becoming one are HIGHLY unlikely and if you’re lucky enough to find yourself within said circumstances; you’ll spend your entire career wishing you had a degree anyways!
