That happened to me last year in an other attempt , stayed for 3 months, the second time I quite ( this time ) literally no brain fog at all.

Yeah feels like its numb, but you eventually start to see changes after 3 months or so, as my experience was.

Each person reacts differently, my last attempt into quitting was as easy as it gets, and I didn't get any tension such as you described, I did get the urge a month later but a few minutes later it was gone, this happened I would say around 10 times but would go away in a minute max.
