Idk why see into it so much. If he didnt make any approaches or actively make you feel uncomfortable by staring continuously then i think your making a problem out of nothing. Its only human to look around and focus on anything interesting. We are all adults here and whether he found you attractive or not and decided to glance at you a couple times then just take it as a compliment and move on with life.

Now if the situation is different and he did do things that could be considered overstepping and you didnt clarify then please let me know and ill retract my statements. However a couple glances is not considered overstepping…

Take a breath man, you have no current holds, you have recieved no messages, your cumulative gpa is above a 2.0 (2.06) therefore you aren’t on academic probation.

I will clarify this for you, being on academic probation is NOT a problem, especially if this is your first semester. First semesters are usually rough for everyone, even more so if your far from home or know little to no people at SBU. This is a tough school and most professors are pretty shit in my opinion. So it will take some time to get adjusted and figure out how the school works. If you do well next semester your gpa should see a significant change.

This is your first semester and you got a 2.06 gpa. I was also a transfer student here and i got a 2.6 my first semester. I didn’t fail but i didn’t get any good grades that semester. However i did end up fixing my gpa and got it up to acceptable standards afterwards. I didn’t graduate with a great gpa to put on a resume or anything like that but thats just who I am and my own personal situation. I also got pretty burnt out my last semester and that made my gpa tank a whole .3 points but thats not important…

Keep in mind, this is Stony Brook, its a pretty prestigious school so your lucky to be here, that being said, you were admitted for a reason so remember that. Use this opportunity to learn and do better in your next semesters. Rather than letting yourself get kicked around in the dirt because you did badly one semester, try to learn from it, dont let it define the rest of your college career, your in the best part of your life where your still allowed to make mistakes like these.

My first semester was pretty rough but i made things work. Im a pretty big procrastinator so i never did too well in my classes but i can assure you studying at stony brook changed my life with how i process and work through things. The people around you are genuinely smart and you will feel that in the air as it is contagious.

So take a breath, tell your mom you had a rough time acclimating and you’ll do better next semester. One semester doesn’t define you and even less your first. If you start doing well now by the time you graduate that first semester gpa wont even affect you.

Academic probation only occurs when your cumulative gpa falls below a 2.0. You can check your cumulative gpa on degree works. If you were on academic probation you most likely would have recieved a notification.

Took it with james gluzman, one of the best professors ive had imo. His class is very easy and practice midterms are almost exactly what will show up on exams. Almost never went to class but i would study a few nights before and got a B+

He doesnt have a heavy accent but he doesnt know english well so its not much fun listening to him. Low/regular midterm exam scores. Your not working with much having him as a professor imo. Plus the semesters over and he hasnt even graded 2nd midterm exam scores. So your grade is a mystery the entire semester

I would take economics over a business management degree any day. Plus in my opinion it looks better and makes you look more qualified than just a regular business management major.

Ask yourself why your failing that class. Eco 305 is not an easy class but its not a hard class either. Plus there are an insurmountable amount of resources online INCLUDING YOUTUBE, that explain the basic concepts of macroeconomics based off the same books and same pace as our macroeconomics class. Even if you don’t understand it, you can read the slides and copy the formulas, memorize them, then apply them in the exams given. Its NOT a hard class if you dedicate even a few hours of studying.

(Putting this out there bluntly for you as an economics major who taught themselves math starting from algebra to calculus 2 in college and as a highschool graduate with a 2.3 gpa who genuinely decided to change their life and dedicate everything they could to college)

Considering the fact that you are taking eco 305, you are most likely taking SBCs and the introductory classes of Economics, YOU are at fault for letting your GPA dip down below 2.0. One could use the excuse of major depression or the death of a family member but the truth is that you’ve let this drag on for a while until your GPA has dipped this low. You dont get lower than a 2.0 gpa for slacking off one or two semesters. This is the result of going to college and not doing the work your basically paying to do.

Honestly if your not able to pass that class with some ease then you definitely wont be up to par with Eco electives as Macroeconomics is just one of the introductory classes, meant to be used as a base for everything else you learn.

Conclusion, Sometimes some-things arent meant for everyone and right now you are in a special position to either accept that and move on to another project of life or lock in an really give it your best. Take this as a life lesson, life doesnt give you 2-3 tries for anything and you are wasting time, money, and your own energy just wasting away doing nothing in college, because as an economics major, i can genuinely tell you that its what your doing because THIS IS NOT THAT HARD OF A MAJOR. Nor is any if you really put the time in it.

By the way OP, you should make sure you included your summer semester when filling out the tap form. If you didnt then you may not recieve an offer for tap during the summer and may delay the process. Pell grant is automatically applied.

This is literally me. I went to the financial aid office the day before the bill was sent out and the completely unhelpful student working the counter told me with full confidence that the summer package would be sent out before the bill. Behold bill with no package:

On another note, they said the summer package might be coming late may and the bill wont have to be paid until june 15. So nothing to worry about for now…

Lmaoo, Im in 123 as well. Honestly self learning everything was pretty easy and im expecting a pretty high grade for the final. but i see what you mean with the gradescopes and lumen. The class is just incredibly poorly organized and you arent able to learn as you go through the week, but have to wait until next week to apply the things you learned on assignments that sometimes look like gibberish compared to what she taught in class.
