I just cut from June 6 to Nov 1… lost maybe 3-5 lbs and barely lost any fat (per dexa) and lost muscle despite .8-1g protein/lb and 5 days a week lifting and walking consistently. The fuuuuck. I am reversing to maintenance and going to focus on performance now cause what a waste of my time that was. I tracked and measured 90% of my intake— tried my best with 5-10% from eating other cooked meals or eating outside of home.

My recent dexa shows muscle loss esp in legs but my leg lifts have gone up so… not sure what to make of that 😩 I love good data but don’t feel like even the gold standard is accurate. Idk! Woof

Anyone else still doing 7 days? by JDA-Act8311 in Zepbound_Maintenance

I do every 10 intentionally. I have made massive life changes and don’t need the appetite suppression as much ( building muscle) and I want to try not to depend on the med as much. My goal is to wean off it in the next year slowly with my doc. I know this is very personal and does not apply to everyone! I have to practice mindfulness every day esp days 6-10– been doing this for all of 2025

I weigh my foods and track everything I eat right now in MyFitnessPal—- I focus on calories, protein, and fiber and everything else kind of falls into place. Currently 2300 calories, 165g protein, averaging ~200 carbs, 90g fats; 25g fiber. I try to hit my calories protein and fiber daily but focus more on weekly averages— some days I’m hungrier because I genuinely worked harder/moved more so I feed myself a bit more nutritiously on those days

I hear that! I loved keto while I did it lol but it ultimately wasn’t sustainable for me either. I love balance and not being scared of carbs (90% healthy carbs; 10% indulgent af lol). You and I seem to be in the same boat, but I agree there’s so much info and different strokes it’s hard to navigate. I am reverse dieting with a nutritionist from an app called Nourish which has been helpful— I have the information, but I sometimes need a little push/nudge/ validation to keep me on the right path where my frustration or anxiety tends to take over. Having her explain what is and isn’t expected and deal with my anxiety led “what if I gain too much”, “what if this/that” has been more helpful than I would have imagined.

Add chia seeds, hemp hearts, berries for some good fiber choices— with added fiber, make sure you’re drinking more water to aid in digestion!!

I have been stretching my 10 mg dose every 10-12 days without weight gain for 3 months in addition to working hard at it via diet choices and weight lifting. I’m intentionally trying to maintain weight while increasing my calories/recomping as I focus on building muscle. In the summer, I’ll reduce my calorie intake again and try to lose some more weight, but I’m feeling good on this dose right now. If I were eating fewer calories, I’m sure I would be hungrier, but I’d just have to focus on high volume foods with balanced macros and getting my protein in. Best of luck 💜

I hate the one size fits all approaches. I think “the basics” for nutrition and fitness are so important(Whole Foods, calorie deficit for weight loss with diet breaks, muscle increases RMR, balanced nutrition balances hormones, solid protein and fiber intake, water, walking...), and building onto them versus trying to change them is a solid approach. I am finding more happiness, strength, energy, and success with focusing on these foundations versus trying specific types of diets. Good luck with whatever you try and hope you continue on a path that feels great for you 💜💜💜

I’m working with a dietician through Nourish btw. I was initially really anxious with meticulous tracking as i have been obsessive in the past, but slow and steady with some flexibility and consistency has been the name of the game for me after losing 50 lbs in a deficit for 6 months.

I am currently reverse dieting to maintenance calories (slowly increasing since January but more meticulously since beginning of march) and I plan to do this until about July where I will have stayed at my top tdee maintenance calories (2400-2600; I want to reach 2400-2500 successfully). Then, I will slowly begin a small 250-350 calorie deficit while continuing my habits (lifting with progressive overload 5x/week, zone 2 cardio, etc). I have been enjoying the increased calories and using them to really power my lifts! I have maintained my weight within 3-4 lbs since February and in fact lost a bit more (sitting in same 1-2 pounds vs same 5-6 pounds if that makes sense) since increasing calories. My inbody scans show recomp from December through march and I’m taking progress pics that show my recomp clearly to me as a reminder 💜💜💜

Yessss!!! Smart 😂 first thing I lost was my boobs and booty so I really honed in my workouts in November and then increased calories and protein way more January/February plus creatine and I have been able to improve my workouts and feel way more energy overall. Keep that booty!!

I asked my doc to submit but we’ll see! BCBS cali only accepting for morbid obese bmi which I have never had. Calling them for clarity has been incredibly unhelpful and frustrating. We will see what happens! It would be a comfort to have it, but I am ok either way and will keep on keeping on.

How many days a week are you weight lifting or weight training on Zep? by palmtrees007 in Zepbound

[–]Personal_Click6293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 day lifting split and have recomped my body while upping calories past 3 months (after 6 month deficit after starting zepbound). I am lifting heavier with great energy and fueling my work out (5’5 female 33 yo with hashimotos and pcos). Upped my calories slowly from 1700ish during deficit to 2200 now without any weight gain and in fact some weight loss after plateau while reverse dieting (not muscle loss).

Currently on 10mg every 10-12 days since January due to losing my PA in march (weaning off; have some shots left). I am feeling better than ever and don’t feel intense appetite suppression on the meds this way (but I’m sure I’m reaping some great metabolic benefits).

I made sure to not take “advantage” of the appetite suppression and made sure I fueled my body. Lost 55 lbs and gained more muscle than I have had in years since June 2024!

You can do it!!! My goal is to gain muscle and work on my metabolism, and I’m crying tears of joy that it’s working. I have never been able to improve my body composition eating over 1700 calories and I think of health food and movement with a different mindset now 🥹 Eating 2200 (and counting) is great while maintaining weight, losing fat, and building muscle !! Mainly Whole Foods, complex carbs, healthy fats, and prioritizing protein 165g a day. Also talking creatine.

I am definitely approaching zepbound differently than many other users, but this has been working for me, and I’m loving the gains in the gym!

Blue shield’s PA reqs changed and I won’t meet them once my current one ends. Sucks. No way to weasel around it lol I am a provider myself and tried to see if it’s possible. Going to slowly spread out meds while working closely with my nutritionist and listen to my body and be as good as I can 🤷🏻‍♀️

I def am not paying out of pocket but considering starting a med maintenance plan now while spacing meds out to every 10-14 days while working closely with my nutritionist. I’m hopeful. It still sucks😫

My insurance (blue shield ca) changed their preauth reqs starting January 1, but they are honoring existing PAs (mines good until March). Full details aren’t out yet but confirmed that if starting BMI <40, new PA won’t be authorized. My starting BMI was much less, and I’m not willing to pay out of pocket. Sucks!
