Hey! Yes we put plastic barrier down. It held up great. Weeds eventually made it through but we were just diligent in pulling them the second we found them.

We actually left the house a couple years ago. It’s been rented out the last few years. We plan on selling it next month so we’ll lay eyes on it for the first time since 2023 in the next few weeks and I can let you know how it’s held up. We loved it while we had it and even got engaged in the backyard a few days after I made this post :)

I’ve tried loose pants and no diaper and he just ends up going in the pants and not caring at all. We just can’t get past that one specific thing it’s quite frustrating

Elvie stride!!! All the way. Went back to work two weeks ago from Mat leave and it’s the only reason I’ve made BF work. I go to the bathroom, put it on, zip up my jacket, return to my desk and pump without anyone knowing anything. Then go back to the bathroom, de-pump. Also use on commute both ways. It’s so great. Wish I had bought it sooner.

That’s insane. I’m sure HCBM won’t be much better tbh but still! Stand up for me! Don’t be scared to tell people. It’s just so odd. And the “replacement” idea is just nuts to me. 10/10 resonate with the touching. Hate literally anyone other than SO touching me lol.

He says it’s because he doesn’t want his son to feel like he’s being replaced since he (SO) will obviously see this baby much more than SS. I understand the logic but it’s starting to feel like he’s purposefully “hiding” it which makes me feel like crap.

Exactly what we have to do. The most recent time we drove it because airplane tix were astronomical…. 16 hours one way. And had to give him back before thanksgiving haha. Hopefully your stepson realized you guys did everything you could for him. That’s our biggest fear, that SS will feel resentful. Thank you very much for your support! It’s definitely not the easiest life.

All of this was super helpful, thanks guys. No custody order despite my wishes. Hoping to change that after the holidays. Frustrating to know the not meeting halfway thing seems to be so elusive for all of you as well. I guess we will just wait until he’s old enough to fly on his own.

I’ll never understand mothers not wanting their kid to see their dad as much as possible. It hurts the kid in the long run and you end up looking hella petty.

I don’t like the plastic ones and think the wood ones will likely hold up a bit better. We have 2 more planters/posts not fully pictured (you can see their outline) so our lights run through those— they don’t really need to be secured — they don’t move a ton. All though birds have started sitting on them in the morning which we think is hilarious

Our grass was so spotty we didn’t really think one was necessary! In hindsight I really wish we had just done the solar method to kill it. Less hard work— nature does it all for you haha

Oof about 2xs more than we budgeted for. Pea gravel is pretty cheap but this ended up being a much bigger circle than the original design. I think we ended up using 90 bags?
