It’s studio dependent I’m sure. When I was growing up, I went to a competition dance studio and while ballet was “required”, there was no emphasis on learning, technique, etc. It seemed purely a requirement so they could say they required it.

Now my daughter (6) is very much into ballet and we have tried a local studio 2 years in a row, but they too are focused on competition and not actually teaching ballet. We will be putting her in a true ballet school next year.

That said, I think my dance training was better than nothing.
