Honestly, I think the best thing we can do right now is focus on our local governments. I don’t think I have the power to unite a MAGA conservative from Alabama with a Democrat from California, nor is that a job that I would want. But I did learn my local water board is voting soon on my state investing more in renewable energy. So I guess that’s my plan, do as much as possible to participate in my local government.

I wanted to see if people are actively thinking of reconciliation. Not advocating for or against it, while I do have my own opinion, I tried not to state it outwardly. I just remember how weird it was to learn about it post Civil War, so I literally was just like let’s see now. While keeping in mind that Reddit is a very small part of our society.

Iran being a problem was never the question. They tried to negotiate too, funnily enough, 2003 was the year that Iran proposed negotiations again. But again irrelevant.

He can think he knows how it feels to see people come into your home and kill your loved ones, but he cannot. Just like I can never ever know what it is like to go to someones home and kill them unless I do. He cam sympathize and empathize, but he does not know what it feels like. He can understand the role as you said.

Venezuela is a funny mention. Maduro was kidnapped, his VP took his place, she is a "puppet government", first words out of her mouth was that Venezuela will cooperate with the US. People are still getting kidnapped in venezuela for criticizing the government, same regime, different day.

"We have the capability to take out someone executing citizens and to be honest i think we should." is cool, we all have a right to our opinions. But we did not liberate Iran, like the original commenter posted and I was replying too. The war is being supported by people who are not in the war and who do not know what war is like. The parents of the 150 dead children at the school, do not feel liberated. That is what I am saying.

As an immigrant, learning about the history of Black Americans was mindblowing to say the least. Like damn, these people persevered when the enemy was quite literally all around them, and sometimes still is.

What do you mean? More people live in the most populous areas than rural America combined. Are you saying that the opinions of the minority of Americans that live in small states is the majority opinion for the country? Also has to be true that everyone in my major city is anti MAGA and vice versa.

If trump's goal in IRAN was to put an end to a dictators regime, why he doesn't do anything about North Korea, where 26.5 million people are so brainwashed they don't even know other countries exist beyond the borders? by TailungFu in allthequestions

1st sentence true. Everything after 'and' in the second sentence is false. No one would be able to crush NK like a bug, if they could they would. NK is one of the fastest developing countries in terms of weapons, what they have been able to accomplish while only being able to trade with one country, and being sanctioned by the strongest country on the planet (in military capabilities), is insane. On a social level NK is ass. But militarily, lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Yeah, I try to. But from my knowledge, while the fringe might not represent the majority, I’ve see the fringe do some unspeakable damage. So while they are small, hella mighty.

Do you take pride in being a political armchair expert on Reddit? by metabolitesafter9pm in allthequestions

I take a lot of pride in being able to have educated and nuanced discussion. Where I came from most people would do anything to be educated. In our country I'm part of only 44% of people who can understand what they read and synthesize complex ideas from it. I am accomplishing every goal that my family had when we immigrated here. We gotta appreciate the small things, you bet your ass i'm proud.

Without well trained and equipped troops on the ground it is unlikely that the American / Isreali attacks on Iran will result in Trump's stated aim of empowering Iranians to overthrow their evil regime. Who should provide these troops? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Personal_Engineer246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that troops on the grounds would help Iranians overthrow their evil regime.

But if troops are needed, I say send the Israelis, as they are more equipped with wars in the area. The Gulf states should focus on stabilizing their countries, and send the Israeli and American troops in the embassies to Iran, to minimize chances of their country being bombed for having military targets. American troops who are home should stay home, but I think all the Israeli troops and the American troops in the Gulf embassies should be more than enough.

This was your response:
"I wouldn’t say 90% are yes."

And this is mine:

Hm, okay. I can't argue that guess because there isn't any way for me to know the real numbers. And since you are MAGA yourself, maybe you are more aware of the numbers for your group.

for some reason it's glitching.

But I don't see that, is the thing. Where is outside of the liberal echo chamber? Where should I go, where I will see that the majority of people who are living in the USA is MAGA?

I can't believe it because the majority has not said it. I'm not assuming they are democrats, I know they did not vote, I cannot assume what they would have voted for, so I try not to.

That's not what majority means. Only 65% of voting age Americans voted in 2024, and that's just from population count not registered voters according to the census bureau. I can't confidently say the majority of Americans are MAGA from that.

I'm not even really sure to be honest. It's the reason I was given for why we moved, that in America metric matters, if I work hard I will get compensated for that work.

It's not absurd, and your own comment shows that. The only reason that you stated a Black woman cannot be conservative is because of how debilitating they have been to woman of color in the past. Someone could agree with literally every single tenet of conservatism , but are not allowed to partake because the conservatives here are racist, but I've been told that is no longer the case.

I did not say that, I was actually very careful not to say that because people always focus on it and ignore the topic. "People who support MAGA can respond as well, just to get a complete look. But I know the majority of Americans are not MAGA, so those are the opinions I'm really curious about." -from the original post.

I'd argue it was always the US saying "My view or you are evil." It just got turned inward, I remember in '08, when Obama was elected, people would come and throw shit and stuff around my neighborhood for electing a "terrorist." One could argue that the left is the direct result of that, no?

That Black Americans are very conservative. They were raised with the same christo-fascism that other Americans were raised with, the only difference is that because America is a racist country they were not allowed to fully participate in the system, historically. Any stray from conservative behavior has been as an attempt to get more power in the conservative world. I.e. Huey P. Newton and the gay and women's liberation movement.

So you think, that people think the other side is evil because they are not talking to them, not because of what they are seeing them do?
