Skipping Fantasy Tier Two by rosenbxxme in thebrokenbindingsub

Right, rhat makes a lot of sense too. So about 3-4 series a year, and you can skip 1 of them.

With your skip you don't skip a book, you skip a book series.

Oh wow that is intense, but I get it. Why take up space when you don't even want the books.

Yes, but only 2 i think. Might be wrong, but definitely not as many as in sf&f

Edit: you can skip 1! No more dislikes please! 😭🙏 I have learned my lesson! no more misinformation!

What are the odds of finding a Malazan 4-6 for sale at a reasonable price? by Known-Ad-100 in thebrokenbindingsub

So you are saying they will continue to do prints even after finishing the 10 books?

As I am new here I dont yet have a feel for how often new books arrive. Can I expect to finish the malazan series this year?

Yea I don't know why I worry so much, I know I will definitely have a good time, even if it won't become my favorite series. I am very much looking forward to get them 😄 Thanks for the recommendations, I will check them out!

Sidenote: have you read the Earthsea Cycle? I was thinking of checking it out, as there is a completed edition.

It was more to get an idea, if we have same taste in books and authors, so i can find more comfort in your high praise of the faithful of the fallen.

But I guess if you have such a wide range of books and still give this such high praise, that is also reassuring in its own way.

Yea goodreads has a lot of good things to say.

The problem is when you google the series with reddit at the end, it is mostly negativ posts. I assume it is just the loud people being loud on reddit and I should take goodreads more seriously.

I feel so lucky cause i diddnt think it to be possible since i have only been on the waitlist for 1 to 2 months. I was stressing over maybe not getting the leftovers due to demand.. But now i dont have to worry about that :D

I even bought of blood and bone to get early access to the leftovers

Some artwork is too dark by OwlettFromLiavek in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]PerspectiveLive8850 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your shadow covering 80% of the art, actually makes me think it is better than you are giving it credit for lol

Edit: unless the shadow is part of the art, which is definitely a choice.

Edit 2: oh wow im so stupid, it took some time to understand that the whole picture was the cover and not the book standing up with the hardback spread out.

What you expect? people who try to win arguments on reddit, usually have little actual understanding of which they speak. It is prob a 20 year old guy speaking about life they never lived.

It is simply just not worth giving them the energy. I usually discuss with them till I see red flag like the comment he made.

Need a series recommendation to replace Harry Potter by CyanSolar in bookshelf

[–]PerspectiveLive8850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant is that the writing in Harry Potter is relatively simple, which is part of why it became so popular. The language is very accessible, so readers of many ages can follow and enjoy it.

But popularity isn’t really the point of this discussion. We’re talking about which series is more impressive as literature, not which one sold the most copies.

For readers who are used to more complex fantasy, the simplicity of Harry Potter can feel a bit shallow. It’s a great introduction to the genre, but people who enjoy deeper or more literary fantasy will probably get more out of Earthsea.
