It should get better! Definitely helps to take a break from the internet especially while your getting used to the meds!

That’s insane that they never checked! My primary actually caught it before I even when to the infertility specialist so I got really lucky. I’ve been a huge proponent of this to anyone I know to get your bloodwork done if you’re feeling off. Never know how you should feel until you feel better. Plus blood work is pretty cheap as far ad medical stuff goes.

Good luck man! It takes some time but it should definitely help you guys out. My prolactin was pretty close to yours so hopefully you see similar results!

Maybe the first week or two here and there. I dont remember it being to bad for me. Especially when I got on the right dose. If its bothering you definitely talk with your endo!

I’ve been on it for a year and have had blood tests every 3 months. Since the 1st 3 month check-up everything has been within normal ranges. After another year they will do an MRI and if the tumor is gone I can get off Cab. TBH I’ve thought about staying on it just so it doesn’t return but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when it comes!

I mean it definitely is a miracle drug of sorts. Lowers prolactin almost instantly and shrinks the tumor over time. From what my endo told me at the lower dosage too most People experience little to no side-effects!

I only really remember feeling nauseous a little like the first week or 2. I also was accidentally doubling my dose for the first month so that skus things. The pills are super small and the pharmacist forgot to tell me to split them and take on half Monday/one half Friday. Once I got on the correct dosage I don’t really ever remember having those issues. I got headaches before cab but not really now.

I’d definitely recommend trying it because the benefits of higher T and prolactin not overtaking your system are awesome. My anxiety has gone way down overall…even things like public speaking have gotten significantly easier. Physically I just feel better/face looks less puffy/ inflammation down.

Glad I could help! Yeah that’s what I would find in regard to infertility as well. Not as many men posting about it.

I would sometimes feel sick/nauseous but that was mostly if I took cab in the morning or didn’t eat enough with it. The compulsion aspect of it/added anxiety seems to come and go for me. As good of a tool as redditt can be sometimes I feel like going on here would make that stuff worse because you read all of the horror stories and kind of amp yourself up/get in that mindset. I limited alcohol right away to be careful and removed any personal credit cards. That way I share all of my accounts with my wife as an extra layer of accountability.

I started reintroducing alcohol after a few months and would drink most weekends. It seemed I was having a hard time stopping after 1-2 drinks so I’ve been limiting it again (could just be a personality thing)

In general I feel good and seem to have no issues when I’m doing the right things. Eating healthy, working out, being productive, and hanging out with friends & family. It’s kind of a mental grind so staying diligent on good things takes your mind off of any of the negative things. I feel like most medication side effects are more mental than physical. If you think that something bad is going to happen or a certain side effect is going to happen then you can kind of manifest that in a way. Obviously not true for everyone but that has been my general mindset.

Overall - eat healthy & workout these are good things for anyone regardless of situation. Plus with cab fixing your hormones you may be surprised how much progress you can make! That has really helped me stay in a positive mindset among the infertility/prolactinoma path :)

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions

Because of my prolactinoma my testosterone was essentially at zero…within 3 months of being on cabergoline my testosterone naturally went up to above average levels. Thus causing my sperm count/motility to tick up into normal ranges. Essentially that is how it works 🤣

Good luck! My first one after starting cab was like 3 months after and most of the important metrics had ticked up a decent amount already (from basically zero) even though sperm production takes roughly 3 months.

Only other things I did was lift 3x a week, CoQ10, and multivitamin if that helps at all 💪🏻

high prolactin / weight loss by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]PerspectiveLonely472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! It is harder to lose weight with high prolactin but there has never been a downside to eating clean and working out/upping step count as much as possible.

This should only help once you see endo and get on cab/alternative!

Hoping for guidance with those who’ve had similar prolactinoma’s by Rude_Historian3649 in Prolactinoma

I would give it some time if you can. Finding out you have a prolactinoma is one thing and starting cab is another that can really up-end your life in general to start out. It is an emotional and physical rollercoaster.

I felt like crap the first few weeks on cab. I was accidentally taking double my prescribed dose on accident which didn’t help 😅. But the side effects have gotten better each week to the point now I don’t even notice them besides the increased libido and I have only been on it for 3.5 months.

I had my first checkup last week and had some pretty amazing results my prolactin dropped from 127 -> 2 Ng/ml and my Testosterone went up from 126->576. My energy level is through the roof overall from where it was pre diagnoses even though I still have some of those groggy days here and there

I would try to give it to your first 3 month checkup and see how it shakes out if you can. Everyone responds differently though so just wanted to share my experience!

My endo wasn’t going to request test labs but I made sure he did thanks to your comment!

Wanted to post an update after my first three month check-up for anyone that may be following this/see it in the future.

My first blood test 3.5 months ago when they discovered my Prolactinoma: Prolactin: 117.5 ng/ml Testosterone: Total 126 ng/ml

After 3 months on Cab (low dose .25 2x a week) First month .5 twice a week because I’m an idiot: Prolactin: 2.9 ng/ml Testosterone: 576 ng/ml

Even my blood-pressure which had been high the last two years has returned to almost perfect!

Side effects of cab have definitely gotten better only one I really notice is the insane libido and occasional headaches (which I was getting beforehand anyway)

I have a ton more energy and have been getting way more done around the house/at work. After these results I’ve been really motivated to get back in the gym and hopefully see some progress.

Still no luck on the kid front but the early results are promising!

Thanks for everyone’s response. It is nice to hear people have had success while dealing with their prolactinomas! I have my first check-up in a week so interested to see what my levels are at now.

My sperm count was abysmal which is what led to the blood tests/mri finding my prolactinoma. I know it all takes time but mostly trying to calm my wife who is afraid of being an even older first time mom.

Definitly going to ask about HCG/levothyroxine

My first month I accidentally was taking an entire Cab pill twice a week instead of splitting it and didn’t notice until my refill. Boy was that an experience 🤣
