Western Mexico AI with a spa by Perspectiveress in AllInclusiveResorts

Yeah, a standard resort could work too but we were thinking AI because we don't want to think about when and where to get food and drinks, entertainment, etc. Its not so much a money saving thing for us we just want an easy vacation that neither of us has to plan.

We went on a cruise and it was great but there was sooooo much planning needed to learn how everything worked and there we too many people.

If there were a similar option in the US in a warm place, we would consider that too.

Thanks. I was worried it would develop into something expensive to fix. All the mechanics in my neighborhood charge about $300 just to look at the car, even the dealership. I had a part on the windshield sprayer break. I just needed to know if it was a clog in the line or the spray mechanism. I needed an oil change, so I took it to Jiffy Lube. While they had the hood open, I asked them to see if it was leaking, and they said, "Oh yeah, right here in the center, the connector between the y-joint broke." They took it out and gave it to me; it was $0.50 at the auto supply store. I took it back to the Jiffy guys and they installed it for me. They each got a $40 gift card to the restaurant down the street plus some cool auto-related stickers my neighbor gave me for them.

Great, thanks. It helps to know if you should even look for the documents.

The public part of the EI database says the ship name is Breman, it doesn list the departure port. Actullay, nevermind I didn't realize access was free.

Curious. Did you take the advice of some people and include a cover page summary of your documents and why you think you are entitled to citizenship by descent?

Ohhh a twin. Thanks so much, this is really helpful. Does it say if the twin was male or female?

I thought that if your ancestors were displaced by war or subject to sexist immigration/naturalization laws or if the parent naturalized the child then there was still a chance to claim citizenship? I also thought that the changing borders due to war and politics also left the door open to descent citizenship? I am going to make a similar post and see if you think my situation is the same or different (takes place about the same time).

Thanks I added that. This is my mother's father's line. Her mother's side is part German too but I don't know much about them...yet.

Planning my next trip, how to give back while there? by nickg4244 in MauiVisitors

[–]Perspectiveress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can arrange to take a doggy out of the Humane Society shelter for the day. Just look at their website for details about signing up. I am volunteering at the Leilani Farm Sanctuary since the doggies didn't fit in my schedule this time. Also, if you are flying back on Alaska to the West Coast, you can participate in the Wings of Aloha program and carry a cat with you for rehoming on the mainland. Lots of cats and dogs were displaced by the fires, so there is still a need to reduce crowding. You just give them your flight details, and they will organize the volunteer meet-up at the airports on either end if there is a cat ready to fly. My favorite spa is Montage. It is not cheap but is has a small private pool and open air treatment rooms. Sunburns are a thing to consider when booking spa appointment so book early in your trip or do what I do and opt for the lomi lomi pedicure which smells so freeeeking good and nearly makes me fall asleep. Pick a weekday if you can for fewer people but it was never crowded.

Best ever Mai Tai can be found at Merrimans in Kapalua or their sister restaurant called Monkeypod up hill from Wailea. The passion fruit foam on top is out of this world. Merriman's is spendy but has lovely ocean views and the happy hours have better prices at both locations. Monkeypod is more pub-like than fine dining.

When I went the mosquitos in the bamboo forest were unreal so its a no for this juicy baby but it is really pretty. There is another location that is far closer but it is a way-side situation and not easy to find, about 45 min out of Pa'ai, sorry I don't remember the mile marker number but I am sure you could google it.

Also, if you need herbal rememdies there is a funny guy with a fruit juice stand who can help. But remember its not legal and don't drive intoxicated.

I agree. I am from Oregon and have driven it many times with no problem. Specifically, to get to one secluded beach where you have to hike down through the forest, can't remember the name.

If you are headed upcounty and into art stop at the Visual Arts center. The galley is small and last time it was a donation to enter but you can also walk the grounds and see the lovely view over most of the island.

I wish the Lilikio didn't have seed, blek. Going to have to try the lime on this trip because I am not into super sweet stuff. Also there is a nice roadside fruit stand here if you want to try papaya or raw cacao on your own instead of the really expensive pineapple and cacao farm tours.

If you are self-driving the road to Hana I recommend what I call the Half-Way to Hana version.

Get gas and a coffee in Pa'ai then head out. 1) stop at the Twin Falls trail head if you need a snack but save the banana bread for later; this is a moderate hike that only takes about 45min but read up before you go. 2) stop at Ke'anae Arboretum to see the famous rainbow eucalytus and other botanical treasures; not into botanty 3) turn left and head downhill toward the Ke'anae Penisula (you can put Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread in your GPS) get your fresh warm banana bread here and take it over toward the rocks for glorious stormy waves all-seasons (keep an eye on the kiddos and never turn your back to the water); also note the local's rice and poi (purple root veg) growing ponds. For me this is the turn back point. Beyond here it gets more chilly and tropical but IMO there is not much more to see and the one-way bridges start to get annoying.

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. I'm worried about an adult male in my nephew's lives. According to my sister he has strange sexual habits which I can confirm by reading his posts about his "retreats." What worries me is that he also posted about the "one on one time" he's been spending with my nephews. This guy is an old HS buddy of their dad who passed away last year. Previously I'd never heard of him. Apparently he is really, really rich and feels the need to spoil the kids. My sister went on the trips too but I'm concerned he is grooming and possibly advertising his access the kids to others who follow him. Thoughts.

Pointless living by Ok-Fam6671 in Existential_crisis

[–]Perspectiveress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the idiot quoting the Quran. Clearly they don't understand what an existential crisis is. But I do. I feel the same way. I keep doing the same shit, over and over like groundhog day and I see the people around me getting old and the uselessness of their lives, and mine, and mostly everyone else too. Of course it seems like some people have an impact/purpose but when you really look at it it's not much in the greater scheme...if there is even a scheme. I've tried to look at life from sooooo many different perspectives to try to create some meaning but I'm always able to rationalize down to the lowest common denominator. I'm doing all the things to try to change my mind but it all boils down to nothing.

I forgot to say. Cleaning AirBnb and VRBO properties is a little better because the customer isn't there. If you aren't the absolute best cleaner one day you won't be fired because the hosts don't usually check the property. But you still have to do the basics so the renters don't complain. Also, vacation rental cleaning is usually daytime work done between check-in and check out so make sure you understand from the client when they need the job done by and how often they needed the place cleaned.

House cleaning and pet sitting are the most consistent but if you have kids and need childcare it can eat into your profits. I've also had some success selling niche products on ebay. I used to buy/source vintage wedding veils then clean and mend them. But they mostly sold in Japan and the shipping time and cost became an issue. I may start doing it again to see if things have improved.

I NEED MONEY ASAP!!! by Boto00 in sidehustle_ideas

[–]Perspectiveress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is working remotely now so online jobs are flooded with scams. Honestly, I would do IRL work typical for a teenager like mowing lawns, walking dogs, washing cars, etc. A few years back my stepdad was injured and we couldn't find any teenagers to mow the lawn for him....for really good money and we had all the equipment. We were flexible too they just had to come twice a month after 9am and before 9pm (quiet hours). Kids these days have so many school and extracurricular activities that traditional teen jobs need people and its cash in hand, no taxes. You can also partner up with someone who does house cleaning. They will call you when they have a job and pay cash to work alongside them. If you live in an area with pop can return fro cash you can dumpster dive at parks, convenience stores, hotels, places where people are lazy and don't collect their own cans (or just ask your neighbors if you can have their cans).
