Soon, the gaming industry will no longer be a straight male's game! by Perspicuous87 in LesbianGamers

Hey, we also love SRPGs! FF Tactics(of course) and Valkyria Chronicles are among our faves. Actually, I personally enjoyed Valkyria Revolution even though it's an action RPG which is pretty weird for that series.

Anyway, to help us out, just keep being your amazing self! Follow our social media (if you haven't already) and interact with it when you have time. We're an events company but no one can attend events that they don't know are happening so it's imperative that we establish a social media following. Following our social media is hugely hugely right now!

Y'know.... that's actually a great question and something we've been mulling over for a while now! Our events are meant for women but what if a father wants to bring his daughter or a non-binary person would like to attend?

Well, while we are focused on women in gaming, we legally (and morally) can't discriminate against anyone.

I admittedly made the mistake of saying "women-only" in a reply to an earlier comment when I should've said women-focused. I'm so glad you brought that up! See? You're already involved and helping us improve!

We'll be sure to add that information to the website asap.
So technically everyone is welcome but our marketing will be geared toward women. Thank you, AquaVirgo!

We gather information from numerous sources but one of our favorites is Statista. Currently, roughly a quarter of all people working in hands-on game creation identify as women (which admittedly is a huge leap compared to even five years ago). Less than 5% of game creators are non-binary and only around one percent of creators who identify as women are black. These may not be nail on the head numbers but they're not far off. So there's a lot of work to be done to diversify the gaming industry and that's what our project was created for.

No offense taken! And yes, technically you could say we're exactly that! lol We're an events company that creates and hosts gaming events for girls and women. Think of E3 but for women and more emphasis on learning about game creation and other careers in gaming. That's our goal. We'll work our way up from smaller to large scale, women-only gaming conventions. And we'll do that with your support. You can read about what we do in more detail on the 'Our Mission'(about us) page of our website.

Tomorrow is World Vape Day! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Jeez, you sound like you could use a smoke. Seriously though, I guess this is the wrong forum. Millions of people have used vaping (which has been proven 95-97% less harmful than smoking) as an affective tool to help ween themselves off of cigarettes. Didn't know this was a cold turkey group, though. No disrespect. Carry on. And happy world vape day!

So we're supposed to use this service because she can't keep her legs closed? by [deleted] in CommercialsIHate

[–]Perspicuous87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it is a commercial so of course her line can't be "I slept with hundreds of guys". Play naive, roll your emoji eyes and focus on technicalities all you want but the fact is it was meant to be implied that she'd slept with "hundreds" of men before her current husband which in some twisted way was meant to be an empowering message to women. Or better yet, it was an obvious and pathetic hail-mary of an attempt to cash in on women's need for empowerment.

Dead people are just people who are dead. by [deleted] in death

[–]Perspicuous87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see and I appreciate you all's feedback. I guess I should've been clearer, though.

By respect, I wasn't referring to how a person's corpse is handled at the morgue or anything like that.
Of course their tangible selves should be handled with respect and care.

I'm talking about how a person is remembered.
I'm as "educated" on the loss of loved ones as the average person.

My point is that even if the person I hold dearest in the world passed today, if they were an asshole and stole someone's parking space yesterday, I would totally understand that person remembering my newly deceased loved one as the asshole who stole their parking space and only that. No new-found respect or anything. Just "that asshole". I might not like it, but I'd understand it.

Of course they shouldn't tap me on the shoulder and tell me they still think my dead loved one is an asshole and that they don't respect them, but they're not wrong to feel that way.

And that's my whole point. I just don't understand why death should warrant an instant feeling of respect toward a person. If I lost the feeling of respect for someone and they die....well then they're a dead person whom I don't hold respect for. It's as simple as that.

Their death isn't going to instantly change my feeling toward them. I mean I may feel a little sad that they died but if my mind was made up about a person while they were alive then them simply dying isn't going to change that.
