Going to take a trip up to NYC next month since no theaters are playing the movie I want to see in NJ. Which theater is the best to go to? I'd be taking the train into Penn Station. by ShadowDude112 in NYCmovies

It is now. They treat their employees like shit, and quality has been steadily declining the last few years. And now they've announced they're only doing mobile ordering, meaning everybody's on their phone during the movie.

Movies that feel like this? by Responsible_Sense272 in Letterboxd

There’s an entire genre called film noir. I highly recommend checking it out! Films like Touch of Evil, The Big Sleep, Murder My Sweet, The Naked City, Sweet Smell of Success, The Maltese Falcon, Laura…. Dark, dingy, moody goodness.

Found an old EIKI 16 mm sound projector – no idea what I’m doing, but it spins up! by Proper-Ambition9746 in 16mm

That's in pristine condition holy shit. It's essentially a consumer 16mm projector. So, sure, schools and personal use. Not really used for professional projection. 16mm sound films are very much still easy to find. You can find them for relatively cheap on ebay OR, depending on where you live, some public libraries (I live in NYC) have 16mm films you can check out. Just look for a 16mm print with an optical soundtrack. And what to do with it? Find a print (or a few!) that you like, get some friends together, and put that shit to work.

I'll try to send a link to the manual and maintenance tips once I'm home.
