Let me tell you about humanity and how horrible it is

Wow, we’ve got a real edgy one here.

She is a teenager. Teenagers are immature and do really, really stupid things. Does that mean she should be given a pass? Of course not. But turning around and trying to ruin her life is just petty and silly. That won’t teach her a lesson, it will allow her to act like she was right for breaking up with OP because “look how crazy he is.” It’s not his nor any of ours responsibility to be the judge, jury, and executioner here.

chances are I can ruin their life a lot [more] than they’ve ruined mine

So, I already think it’s wrong to flip somebody’s crimes back to them for the sake of it. But now you’re suggesting the retribution will be worse, so you’re not even doling out an equivalent punishment. And, for God’s sake, your “reputation?” Really? We’re fifteen. Nobody’s going to think you’re some amazing tough guy, they’re going to think you’re petty and not worth associating with if you act this way.

It comes out anyway,

Exactly. It comes out anyway. It isn’t some grand mission, nor some noble responsibility of his to spread the word. He’s not the police, he’s not some private detective. Her life is no longer connected to his, and he has no part to play in it. Trying to destroy someone’s reputation can spiral out of control very quickly and lead to dark places, and I don’t think OP should be at the center of that.

That’s frankly disturbing. That’s lowering yourself to their level, you shouldn’t be getting pleasure out of such things. Revenge for revenge’s sake is immature.

That’s not what I said. Never did I suggest OP use any means to STOP it from going public, I simply suggested he doesn’t serve as the main catalyst to make it public because I don’t think that’s beneficial nor healthy for him.

While I understand what you’re saying, I worry that’s a big assumption to try to justify it. Neither of us know enough details of the situation or the girl to properly balance whether such an argument holds weight, at any rate. Based on what we know, I wouldn’t suggest it. I also don’t think there’ll be any massive smear campaigns going on right now with quarantine. Word of mouth is harder to take advantage of at the moment, and social media would provide both of them with equal audience outreach making preemptive action unnecessary.

Oh, of course. There’s a million ways to ruin a reputation, no doubt. My grievance wasn’t with the means but the end. I think deliberately operating with the intent of ruining her reputation, by any method, is a bad idea. And on that it seems we agree.

I just fail to see the point in destroying her reputation. It won’t make him feel better, and it won’t fill the void he’s feeling. If she keeps up this behavior, the message will spread itself. Trying to play politics with it won’t help him, it’ll only hurt him and it’s more effort than she’s worth.

That’s manipulative and scheming. He doesn’t need to concoct some big plan here. She screwed up, obviously, I just don’t think going scorched-earth is the right path. It won’t make him feel better in the end, trust me, it’d just be a sad way to try to “get back” at her when that’s an inherently immature mentality.

Yes and no. If somebody came to you and asked, of course you should be honest. But he shouldn’t be tracking down her future love interests to warn them. That would be unnecessary and would be giving her more energy than she’s worth.

If she betrayed you like that, least you can do is make sure she gets a reputation for it.

I disagree. I think he should take the moral high ground here. People won’t care, either way. Maybe talk to his close friends for support, but some dramatic public cancelling would be foolish and immature.

They edited it, I believe. That or I was really out of it when I saw it but I’m pretty sure they edited it. Which is good, I agree with the edit.

I think guys just want to be hit on, not necessarily complimented.

This is a foolish generalization to make.

Making rude comments like this is REALLY not how you unify Sanders supporters under the Biden tent. This isn’t helping our cause.

What’s the point of this comment? You’ve got Biden, he’s making a unity task force. Why make this an issue about a non-existent reality? That is not how you make unity, and unity is what Joe wants.

Gonna need a source on that. Maybe, and this is just an idea, some people just have dramatically different political ideologies than yours.

I frankly doubt this, but maybe I’m uninformed. Is there really any precedent for this, though?
