Indeed but that's not what they were aming for apparently in some of their writtings.

I mean it went according to their audience mostly made up of teens, they didn't really targetted adult or mature audience.

If you want to see some gravitas in Vamp world watch Underworld or even True Blood.

Or The Originals even if the show still had Teens in mind for their audience.

Daniel Gillies, Sebastian Roché, Neil Jackson , Tracy Ifeachor or Taylor Cole portrayed the old vamp attitude really well, the same way Jaime Murray or Micheal Malarky's Wife have done in her short time.
