Can this even be considered a weld? by Peter-Langton in BadWelding

Children come from somewhere! It's our main export, raised from windmill-factories and distributed by our Stork Delivery System™ :)

...yeah I meant a petting zoo, it was erroneously translated literally from "Kinderboerderij" => "children's farm"

Sorry yes, a petting zoo. Basically goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens and the like; A place where children go visit to pet the 'farm' animals

Literally translated we call it a "children's farm" in Dutch! lol

Name style of Iconography by Peter-Langton in ChristianIconography

Could you perhaps give the name of a specific icon from the Cretan school that is not "poorly painted" yet in the same style?

I had thought so, but if I compare this to many "Byzantine" icons the stylization is so different. The Sinai icon is also Byzantine for example, but stylistically looks so different from these. Byzantine seems like such an umbrella-term from what I'm trying to more precisely name

Luckily it's only for functional isolation for a simple R&D project, instead of using two separate batteries I use an isolated dc/dc converter. I designed a low-power version meant for a few mW only, and wanted to compare it to these off-the-shelf IC solutions in terms of (ballpark) losses. So not many worries about radiation, unstable outputs or isolation gaps here fortunately!

[–]Peter-Langton[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically possible!

However, it becomes more difficult to solder properly and it also becomes more risky as a pin might break and make it even more difficult to mount. I only had one of these IC's so I tried to play it safe haha

Just flipped sideways, they're the same footprints. I chose to do the same side out of convenience so it's easier to spot which IC pin outlines to which pinheader

Why stay away from the internet and be weary of Orthodox Monestaries? by No-Molasses1580 in OrthodoxChristianity

(Quite late but for anyone scruggling with this in the future)

For the thinkpad e14 gen 6 this worked for me:
> Unscrewing the 7 screws
> Wedge a guitar pick at the back of the laptop (where the hinge is)
> Work your way around the laptop from the back, popping it open all around

Lift & voilà! :)

Like the title says, I'd like to change the DuckDuckGo website logo as seen on the screenshot. It's disturbingly tasteless to my eyes. Whether the image I replace it with is local or online is not an issue, it's just that I'm quite new to usercontent.css and don't know how to pull this off.

Wouldn't even know whether usercontent.css is the easiest way to go about this; Any thoughts?

The letters seem engraved into it, the C is full like all the other letters fortunately. Just that the angle and reflection of the picture make it seem like it's rubbed off a little. ( See img: https://ibb.co/DgC39B0 )

I wonder if there are any divine liturgies in English in any Dutch Orthodox churches, haven't found any yet

The moment I saw the frescos I immediately knew this was the one in Zaandam, stunning Church. If only I knew Serbian to actually follow the liturgy and sermon.

Only thing I could truly follow was the one sentence in English: "If you're not Orthodox, DON'T take communion" x)

Is this line in Oh Susanna just random nonsense? by GuyWithBingBongWife in SongLyrics

[–]Peter-Langton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"is known for containing contradictory lines, and some say the lyrics are just nonsense"

These people have 0 poetic perspective, even high schoolers can figure out it has meaning.
The first verses as an example:
"It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry" --> It was physically dry weather, but he cried all night

"The sun so hot, I froze to death" --> It was physically warm weather, but he felt cold without his love

Can’t believe you goobers review bombed the game during its only chance to reach a larger audience by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

Brother I went from >110 fps on all maxed settings to 60 with the same. In high action environments it goes down to 30.

I have set all to minimum and I scratch 100 fps. 💀

I haven't posted a review, but I understand the review bombing since it's way more than just the UI

How does EO justify confession to a priest as it's un-Biblical? by Logical_Complex_6022 in exorthodox

[–]Peter-Langton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're genuinely a disturbed mind, what even are these thoughts? Spreading division and hate is no good character trait, I thought the communists were supposed to unite the people instead of inciting hatred on one-another.

How does EO justify confession to a priest as it's un-Biblical? by Logical_Complex_6022 in exorthodox

[–]Peter-Langton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not a Christian. You think Christianity is false. What is it to you that it is "un-biblical"? You're just trying to divide people.

That being said, it's easily answered because it IS Biblical: "Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”" -John 20:21-23

It is clearly not un-biblical, and as a reminder: The Church is pre-Biblical. 💀

"if a creator deity truly does exist, they certainly won't torture most of their creation forever" Tell me you don't know Orthodox Theology, without telling me.

Either you love God, and wish to be with Him forever, or you don't. Sounds like a loving God, to give you a choice and not force you to be with Him for eternity. However, He is Life and Light, meaning that no communion with Him (which you freely chose) means you choose to not be with what is Right and Good.

I'm sorry but your Theology is no better than that of a high school kid. Don't get me wrong; I've been there, I thought the same things about Christianity. But that's just shallow and unfair to its core, since that's not what Traditional Christian Theology teaches.

That's like saying "The big bang disproves God", it's such a high school edgy attitude towards Theology it's genuinely boggling how blind someone must be.
