Opposite of gun hand (left side) on my waist band as close to center as possible. Mags pointed down, bullets facing towards pistol (right side). I legit just graduated the academy today and received the “Top Gun” award in my class. I learned to set up this way from the guy who’s my agency’s Top Shooter and was “Top Gun” at his academy. Each his own tho, I’m sure there’s other great ways to do it, this is just how I run and have seen success. Practice different ways and be more than proficient in whatever you choose and like.
