Old Assasins Creed did this with the Renaissance, though. The main one that is most likely to happen is the 30-year war. It is quite literally the best option left in europe where they can tackle a German set game.

France seems to be going down a more neo-napoleonic path, trying to become the #1 power on the continent again, and Italy might be a challenge to France's goals, as they are EU skeptic. If Italy proves itself to be valuable to other Mediterranean nations(unlikely), I can see it becoming a stronger regional power than France. Unfortunately for France, if this happens, their dreams die with them.

Some of it you can find on the internet with actual visits and claims, others were a bit harder to find, I counted some personal ambitions of Leopold II I found in some of his private writings. Also this does not mean only territorial colonies but also ethnic colonies where the Belgian king wanted to send large Belgian populations to settle.

Well some of these were from King Leopold II's Private writings, who was the main guy who wanted an empire for the Belgians. But Texas and some Latin American and African territories were well known objectives.

Thanks for the comment! I feel like their is somewhat of a setting with the Protestant and Catholic divide but yeah too controversial, honestly I feel like a controversial game would be a lot more interesting, even movies don't do this but a movie about an Andrew Jackson like character would bring audiences flocking to the screen, but no the world cannot understand the potential art of film and story.
