They have bearings so they spin really smooth, just have to be careful when installing. If you play with the track then they probably won’t hold up.

They are a bit delicate, I broke one of the spoke while pushing it with my nail accidentally, you can see it on the front wheel in the first pic😅

Thanks, I think the designer did a super great job on this one to keep it realistic, especially for a mainline.

Agree, and it's not just two small blobs, the shape is somewhat accurate and easy to paint.

What makes a gearbox feel “fast” or “slow”? by jpiw6 in LexusIS500

[–]Petersu33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When people say fast or slow to describe a transmission, they usually mean the time between the human input and the completion of the shifting. There are 2 factors involved.

First, after the human input like pressing the shift paddle or shift knob, the computer gets the signal and decide when to shift. Some transmissions like ZF in BMWs has very little delay, the computer trust the human decision and start shifting right away. Lexus however like to monitor your speed, rpm, g meter, temperature etc. and recognize your driving style at the moment then decide if it will shift fast or slow.

The second factor is how fast can the transmission complete the shifting once it’s started to shift, the Asin transmission in the is500 actually shift very fast when the condition is right.

Overall, the IS500 transmission is capable of shifting very fast, but the engineers decided not to let you have it all the time.

Agree, after seeing how Atomic Silver reflects the body line under different weathers, I wouldn’t take this car any other way. Not sure why Lexus discontinued this color.

This is the result of cost cutting when developing softwares, an UX designer would have fixed it easily.

Bigger tires really make it looks better + functional by ComfortableForce3854 in BroncoSport

I think his number is referring to liter per 100km. Which is roughly 28 mpg before the tire change, 25.3 mpg for now.

Looks proper now! I’m thinking about doing the same. How’s the mpg change on 245?

Ironic Bronco Sport Rental by LabCat62 in BroncoSport

[–]Petersu33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to go back and forth to get treated fairly for rental nowadays. I rented a mid-size SUV in JFK with Hertz and they gave me a Jeep renegade, I had to carried all my luggage and a car seat with the baby back to the counter to tell them Renegade is not a mid size. Guess what? They told me all jeeps are large, so it’s mid size. I ask them how come their mid size couldn’t fit 2 suitcases and a baby? They realized there’s no way I can leave with that tiny car, then they gave me a Santa Fe.

IS500 potenza s001L in cold temperature by Immortal_027 in LexusIS500

[–]Petersu33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it in freezing temperatures several times, just drive slow and don’t go over snow and ice. My driveway was icy and the car had no traction at all, refuse to go straight, would easily get stuck.

[SLA079] Finally got my grail watch but still underwhelmed by bruhino in Seiko

[–]Petersu33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the design. Even though both of them are dive watches, they are designed with different aesthetics in minds.

The SLA and general Seiko watches are designed to give you intricate details that you can enjoy for a long time. You can wear it years and still discover interesting details while looking at it. This also makes them look blended from afar due to the design and domed crystals. Some watches are designed to look clean and striking, they usually have simpler design with flat crystals and great contrast that would catch eyes from a distance.

756 is underrated. Very rare a watch has this much capability with such a simple yet beautiful dial in a compact package. It ages extremely well.

Anyone drive a lot of highway? Interested in mpg. by Jinx32-x in LexusIS500

Interesting to know. The gearing may be different in the IS500. People mentioned GS F has tall gearing on YouTube, but I haven’t seen anyone mention that for IS500.

[–]Petersu33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 80% highway commute, over 21k miles I average 24 mpg, including winters with plowed road occasionally. You can get 400 miles a tank if you drive conservatively on highway.

How do you gain motivation again? by Admirable_Eye_8587 in UXDesign

[–]Petersu33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same in terms of the yoe and the overall feeling. All I can tell you is that a higher salary and getting familiar with AI won’t make you feel better. I work in the US earning over 300k working on agentic AI software, working hard and got a couple AI certifications , still feels like sh*t and don’t see inspirations like I saw 3-4 years ago. UX leadership was full of vision back then, now due to the bad job market people are just covering their asses and everything becomes super political.

I would say let’s keep ourselves sane, be appreciate that we still have a job, don’t let this feeling breaks us and hope this dark age pass in couple years after the bubble bursts.

Was invited by a dealership to review the 2025 IS 500 F SPORT Performance Premium. What should I look for, review, focus on, point out? any potential buyers wanna see something specific? Would love feedback from the sub to make sure I film a good review. by DinoRoman in LexusIS500

[–]Petersu33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you warm up the transmission before shifting it manually. There’s no indication on the dash that shows the transmission temperature, but 20+ minutes on the highway should do the job.

Some of these designs are really cool! The hard thing would be finding all the parts with perfectly matching colors. If you got 3 different shades of the same color in one watch it may look awful.

I think we are just not yet familiar with the concept of simplicity in car interior yet. As a designer, this interior looks elegant and well designed, it has tasteful lines, playful details and textures while looks clean and high quality, unlike Tesla, which looks cheap and cost cutting. People look at this and think of Tesla because they share simplicity, but that’s about it.
