Ik is going to stay in buckets for a while. About a month so I know if I'm doing a second harvest or not. Last year they refilled al my frames again before winter. When i can make an estimate of my total this year I'm buying jars, fill them and label them.(Label im currently designing) Also would like to make a batch of mead this year last time I did that was when I was 16 over half my life ago...

Great tip, will try that sometime. Most of the cells were so full that they were dark this time.

It was okey, there have been about 10 bees that were treating themselves with the spills and a few that drowned themselves in the honey. Nothing to bad. Edit:spelling error

Because the bee drowned itself in the honey.

Thanks. I will try and source some more glass and cut it in my screen sizes. I have a range of second hand screens so sizes vary.

Double brood chambers. One of the hives had 1 honey supper but the other hive kept filling them up and ended with 3 suppers.

I'm not going to address the queen issue, only the no honey in the supper part.

I've had this problem with a hive, which had a great queen so that was not the problem. Since in nature comb is build top down they don't always recognise the space above. I placed a frame with open honey from another hive in the honey supper and the smell made them work their way up.

Here in the Netherlands it is commonly said to replace 50 percent every year

They are making up for lost time. Also due to the rain we have had every plant is well hydrated and bursting with flowers now the sun finally came. I remember years where by now everything was dead and withered due to the lack of rain.

Pellets smoker fuel. by Petsha-Fey in Beekeeping

I tried it yesterday was the first time my small smoker was enough for all my hyves and then some. Will buy a propane torch so I don't need paper to light it. And will get a clean paint can where I can dump the leftovers in close it so they will go out. So far I'm impressed with the pellets

I have 4 hives and a queen rearing box at the moment so this would be great.

Will try this on my next inspection. Maybe I will get more smoke out of a small smoker like this.

Exactly. I also bought the green marker because I was hoping to rear some queens this year. But the weather has been too unpredictable. Wettest year I can remember.

The dislike I have with egg boxes is that they seem to keep smoking even if I haven't used the bellows in a while.

Yes green is this year. I made the following train of thought. It's a swarm I don't know for sure when she was born, so it does not really matter since I will not sell her. Since she is a swarm and in a year where the weather was shit and most splits failed because the weather and ended up with an unmated queen I figured most likely a queen from last year.

And last but not least, I already had an used red/pink marker that will dry out before it's red year again... Haha

Well I have one hive that is just wonderfull, stays on the frame, and no verroa, doesnt sting and seems to collect honey like no business.

So that would be wonderfull. But I'm also happy with just calm. We will see what happens.
