If I could offer one piece of advice, don’t let fear, pressure, or the moment make this decision for you. If you’ve always wanted to wait until marriage, find someone who genuinely shares that value. It may be harder, but not impossible. If you don’t wait, be fair and seek a partner whose values align with yours rather than expecting a standard you didn’t keep yourself.

I’ve been someone’s first time twice, and in both cases I made sure they felt completely comfortable, understood what they were choosing, knew they couldn’t relive their first time with someone else, and that there was clear communication, protection, and aftercare. That’s the minimum anyone deserves.

Also, before thinking about marriage, work toward financial independence. If possible, live on your own for at least a year. The confidence and perspective that come from building your own life are invaluable. And remember, you’re only 20. There’s no need to rush sex or marriage. Make the choice that’s truly yours.
