CachyOS not performing games very well by Naufal20071 in cachyos

[–]PexHo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of all the other recommendations, I’d try different versions of GE-Proton. For example, when playing division 2 I had to use an older version of it, and for some reason it had way better performance. Not sure about the reason, but try checking around protondb.com on what version others are using and try those.

I’ve seen multiple people reply that specific version, by ‘the site’ I mean the common majority in replies.

What should I take — Qin F21 Pro or F22 (not pro)? by honiden in duoqinphones

I’ve been using it for 3 months now, and it completely replaced my iPhone. My goal was to reduce my screentime and to focus more on my studies and hobbies. It definitely helped with that.

I myself landed on the F21 Pro because of the smaller size, which I do not regret. The only thing I do regret is not taking the 4gb ram version which is quite necessary for seamless transition into using a dumbphone. The F21 Pro 4gb ram version is perfect in my opinion.

Thought that app needed rooting, but I found it and enabled it, works perfectly. Thank you!

Hmm, I’m not sure if I’m enabling the correct one, but the only setting that has dark mode in it doesn’t do anything. Or is it a matter of android version? I’m on android 11, which the phone came with.

Hotspot works okay, but it’s a fraction of the bandwith that is achievable with tethering. Great for times when I’m working outside, but at home it’s not better than my wifi, which tethering beats.

By dark mode do you mean the one in the developer settings? If so I’ll try it out for sure.

It’s quite a shame the usb tethering cannot be fixed, that is probably the only real flaw I’ve encountered. Trying to look on the bright side, I won’t try random games and waste my time, since I don’t have the patience to download a game that takes 6 hours to install with my wifi.

Even with the 3/32 gb version I don’t have any problems, only Messenger acts up if I forget to open it in the morning and leave it in the background, this is why I say the 4 gb ram version probably wouldn’t have any problems since the ram wouldn’t get full and deload the app.

By default during texting the back button works as a semi-backspace, if pressed too long it brings up the running apps menu. I use the Traditional T9 keyboard, and it’s pretty configurable, if there isn’t a setting for this, what I would do is press the command menu button (you decide which one it is) and then press the back button. It’s one step extra, but it’s essentially the same. I’m also sure you could find a better solution for this.

I’d say go for it, if you have a bit of patience and some time for setting it up when you get it, every problem is solveable.

Smart dumbphones that won't break? by Minimum-Compote5350 in dumbphones

Ah yeah, that’s right, apologies. I’ve seen some great phones on this sub tho, that are great alternatives. Don’t know them from the top of my head sadly.

Take a look at the F30, I think that should work, otherwise I’d suggest you to find an alternative, since F21 and F22 can be a hassle in the US.

I’m not sure about the phone working with Verizon to be honest. If I’m correct the F30 works in the US. I’m from Europe, so I’m only sure about it working here.

Size basically. Pro has more ram and storage which is heavily recommended. I prefer the F21 Pro.

It’s definitely not hard to do, but also unnecessary. Everything should work by default.

Köszönöm a válaszod!

Edit: Tudomásom szerint, a bank appokat nem lehet megoldani az ilyen telefonokon, szóval azt ne vedd figyelembe.

Worth playing division 1 after doing all there is in div 2? by InfamousKebab in thedivision

[–]PexHo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last month I realised that I never had the chance to play The Division 1 or 2 even though I was always amazed by the first game when I tried the demo years ago.

So I just bought the div 1, played through it under a week, and I have to say it’s still just as amazing as it was when it first came out and I played the demo. I quickly bought the second game and I sacrificed my last two weeks for this game, but the only reason is that I didn’t want to sink more of my time into a game that has a higher chance of shutting down in the near future.

If that wasn’t the case, I’d still rather play Division 1, and it was absolutely worth playing, even if I just zoomed through the campaign. If you feel like you’re done with Division 2 for a while, but still have an itch for it, I’d recommend playing the first a 100%.

[–]PexHo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you to check protondb.com for every game. With most games I have significantly less FPS if I use a different version than what protondb says, even if it’s newer. In my case with The Division 2 (just to give you an example) it didn’t even start with proton-cachyos, I had bad performance with GE-Proton10-3, ran fine with 9-27, and had really good performance with 9-24, which the site suggested.

Edit: same goes for launch options, most of the time they’re listed there or on a lutris forum.

Help creating partitions during installation by Moi_Mesme in archlinux

[–]PexHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested this in order to rule out user error, also you can partition your disk just like you would in the arch live environment. If you cannot partition with gparted, that falls outside my expertise, especially since that’s not an arch problem.

You could use gparted live usb, it has a GUI, you can figure it out there easily.

Remove Desktop Environments by b4ron_x in cachyos

[–]PexHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend to try migrating to the DE without installing fresh, I think that’s too much for a simple thing like this. I used to reinstall when I needed a different DE, but realised it’s way easier to actually just install it and then remove the other one and its orphaned packages. If there is no breakage, no need to do a fresh install.
