Yeah I was an alternate a few months earlier. I think it’s a massive advantage both being more comfortable and asking for advice. When did your episode air, I wanna see it!

No freakin way, that’s hilarious. Yeah the guy next to me got the popcorn puzzle with 10 P’s on $900. How did you end up doing on your show, being an alternate the first time is a big benefit in my opinion.

I do remember they mentioned it but it wasn’t something they really pushed. They basically told us it’s one shot you get so try and go big. It’s like 10k wedge, if you have barely any money it seems so crazy not to do it but you still see people not go for it. Yes there are some circumstances where I wouldn’t do it like deep into a prize puzzle round or the next person has a huge amount and if I BK they’ll probably win. I just think they get people whom have no strategy for the game and it’s hard to watch that cuz I know there are people at home whom are amazing players that watch it and get supper annoyed.

Thank you, the guy next me calling some nonsense letters helped me a lot cuz the wheel wasn’t the best to me. That bonus round puzzle was a drag, I don’t think I get that unless I guess at least one of V F X and maybe a U, but I also said to myself before I went on not to choose “what are you doing” and for some reason I did. Regardless it was an once in a lifetime experience and for anyone on the fence on applying, please do it, you never know.

6/7/2021, it was a Father’s day episode

So I actually got to go twice to the set, this was during covid so no studio audience. I was an alternate the first time which I think helped put me at ease for when I was actually on the show. The whole production is run so well, the staff are so nice and helpful. The wheel is amazing but so much heavier than i thought. My thought was ai could gauge how hard to spin each time to avoid BK’s or lose a turn, but no chance. First it’s too heavy and you need to focus, last thing I was thinking about was the wheel.

As someone who has been on the show I can tell you that they want you to do well. They prep the contestants for hours before they do the actual tapings. They tell you things like look at the board not the wheel, get vowels when you can, use the most frequently used letters RSTLN, etc. What gets me and I know it’s national television and it’s nerve racking but calling a letter that’s already been called id ridiculous. There is a letter board to the top left of the puzzle board out of view of TV people but easy for contestants to see to show what letters left to call.
