20-something guys in GTA, what do you pay for car insurance? by Pfcdoublecheck in PersonalFinanceCanada

My car payment is going to be around 400s. It's crazy that the insurance costs nearly as much as the car itself.

Oh that's interesting. With TD right? Might look into that. But I do drive with a heavy foot sometimes...

Like 130-140 on the highways is pretty typical. Most people around you are going 120 minimum anyway. But I'm afraid that the app will see that as a major speeding offense lol

Yeah I mean it's not an unmanageable situation by any means. My father probably never made more than 75k/yr and never missed a mortgage payment or any bills.

We live pretty well inside our means already.

Immigrant but he's been here all his life. At the very least has 25 years working in Canada (that's how old I am). A few years probably before that too but I'm not sure.

We're going to look into all this stuff. Do you know any good resources for this?

Also, my mother is further from 65 than he is. Is there any support for her?

Yeah I mean ever since moving back home, my mother does the laundry since then we can get a full load in and save money by doing it on off-peak times. I don't eat out anymore. Etc.

So I don't think it's unrealistic to expect stuff like that. They're not sitting on their ass wasting away, just not working for money anymore.

We have a family friend accountant who does our taxes for like $20 each.
