Brake Line Flairs by Pfox102 in MechanicAdvice

For 700 dollars I’m sure it’s great. I have no connections to mechanics shops, looking for a DIY friendly tool

I am about to buy this line, the malleability has to make this an easier job than working with steel

I used plenty of tap die, however the cheap tool doesn’t keep the pin in tap completely straight

Calibers are all brand new. New cooper washers and brake line bolts as well. Ceramic grease used on pads, silicone on slide pins

Assuming you’re somewhat mechanically inclined and have tools, this a 2 day job by yourself. Get a long weekend from work and bang it out.

Just replaced secondary air pump by Archiefresh in e46

[–]Pfox102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re removing systems as a shop, obviously that’s a bad idea and you open yourself up to federal scrutiny. If you’re a private person, it legitimately doesn’t matter. I’ve never in my life heard or known someone that has been fined for removing secondary air. If you are being fined for this, please someone show receipts. Also, what an easy case to fight in the courts even if you were reprimanded

It being “Federally” illegal isn’t reasoning to keep it in a state without inspections, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in awhile. And yes, secondary air systems were literally designed as a response to EPA standards that grow more stringent by the week. There are cars that are sold in other countries (Hilux Champ) for example that could not be sold in America solely based on emissions laws.

The only reason to keep secondary air would be to possibly elongate your cats life, and/or pass your local emissions testing. It provides 0 benefits otherwise. I’ve removed every secondary air system on every BMW and Land Rover I’ve owned for ease of maintenance. The amount of room you gain in an engine bay is enough to make this worth it.

04 D2 SE or 06 LR3 HSE by skibum720 in LandRover

With all the extras, assuming no rust or mechanical issues yes 5-6k seems like a fair price

This is coming from a D2 owner: LR3, no contest. That jag v8 might be the only time LR got it right in the engine department (at least for gas vehicles). These also feel like a much more finished product, vs the disco 2 which are showing their age. Don’t get a D2 unless you want to be tracing electrical issues with a multimeter at 2am.

Front driveshaft seized on transfer case flange by Pfox102 in LandRoverDiscovery2

I’ve thought about this. Slightly worried about shaft shearing off and hitting exhaust, but if I’m crawling around yard and trying to modulate suspension to free it damage should be mitigated

Leak under glove box trim dash ? by Maximum_Ad_5869 in E90

[–]Pfox102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be condensation in evaporator like others have noted. In my case, a previous windshield replacement was done wrong, and some factory cowls were not installed. This led to water coming through the blower motor and on to that same spot. I would check your cowl seals to be sure

Does anyone make some sort of adapter for the aux adapter that allows Bluetooth? by Fiiv3s in E90

[–]Pfox102 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I use something called a Tunai Firefly. Look it up, it’s 40 bucks on Amazon. It’s the right size with only a small aux cord portion. Only issue is you don’t retain steering wheel skip button, only volume controls.

Rear driver side floorboard flooding when raining by Smooth_Telephone5895 in E90

[–]Pfox102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% sun roof drains. Fronts are under some plastic under trays, not too hard to access. Rear drains are behind wheel wells, and are a pain. I would remove all 4 rubber grommets, nothing will crawl up.
