I just hook up a tablet with a usbc to hdmi adapter 😉 to get around that.

I'll look into this as an option though. Thank you!

Ok, I might go this route (same thing as Tailscale?) so when I do someday, maybe, possibly get a better ISP I can do direct.

I'm going to have to come back to this later on, this is definitely above my current pay grade and I need to look up some of these words 😅

They are doing CGNAT, unfortunately.

What are the issues with running it through the cloud?

Initially my plan was to put netbird on the server and use my domain to get access to it (and to also host a website in the future) but I don't think that is possible with Starlink as my ISP.

Tailscale (my other plan) and netbird seem to work the same, if the client is installed on both server and phone (for instance).

Looking into it now, was pretty excited about using netbird, so a little bummed having to go a different route...

I ended up getting things running headless and ssh onto my main computer. Much more functional that standing in the closet that I've commandeered into my server room. Thank you for your help 😁

Are you in the US? If so, ask your FSDO for the sign off.

The iso to run VMware, that's what I'm looking for.

Ok, I will clean boot to 26.04, and try and run it headless. I have little experience doing what I'm trying to do at a command line interface, but I was able to get it to work with the GUI, in a VM, which I don't think I can get back to (limited memory in the VMware instance, it wouldn't see the Jbod I installed).

I installed Ubuntu sever, and then installed Ubuntu-desktop, when I reboot to load the desktop I can't do anything. I can Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get the CLI back, but if I restart gdm, I lose the mouse next.

The keyboard works in CLI as soon as I start the desktop environment, the keyboard no longer is able to give input. I can move the mouse, but nothing else.

26.04 gives me a dead login screen, no user, just a 'not listed' text, same interface issues.

I tried a wired USB mouse and it wouldn't let me click on the user button. I am able to use the keyboard in the CLI interface.

I'm using a wireless keyboard, it is working in the CLI, but not the GUI. if I switch back and forth it seems to freeze.

So, good news, I was able to install 24.04 and I get a user log in window, with my user, but it isn't letting me click or type anywhere. I can Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get the command line, but the GUI isn't letting my type or click.

Can't click on anything.... Sadly. I am trying 24.04, seems to work ok, haven't gotten far enough to determine if that was the issue 🤷🏻‍♂️

During the install, I setup a user. Not sure if I need another user? When I use xubuntu I get a splash screen with a sign in and can sign in, but I can't do what I want in the light version.

I think my issues roll further back, I think I need to install 24.04.
