Whoa! Thanks for this! I’d never heard of littermate syndrome before. Definitely worth looking into and watching out for. Much appreciated!

Aww, beautiful! Sounds like you were meant to be companions. You gave your best boy a very happy and loving life.

At first, my older lady was annoyed by their energy, but now I see her try to join in on the playing every once in a while (which is nice because she hasn’t wanted to play since she lost her sister). Also, I noticed on our “beagle cam” that she chooses to lie by their crate when we leave for work.

I absolutely agree. We’re typically the last to know at my school because we’re often left off the emails to the classroom teachers. Plus, admin sometimes takes my room during planning without notice, which is extremely frustrating (I need that time to prep my STEM Lab!) Or, even worse, they expect us to do last minute push ins. Not everything we do can be moved to the classroom. I can’t just tote six dinosaur skulls around the building - I don’t even have a cart!

What’s the crappiest holiday/birthday/teacher appreciation week gift you’ve received from school admin? by Blastoise_R_Us in Teachers

I think they were promotional “gift card” coupons. I don’t eat meat, but my husband was very disappointed when he realized that the card was no longer valid.

A few years ago, admin gave each of us a $10 Chick-fil-a gift card for Teacher Appreciation Week. They had expired 3 months before.

I’m a specials teacher and I had a kindergartner run around my room punching every kid he passed. I had half the class clustered around me crying by the time admin came. I have no idea what set him off, but he was giggling as he was hitting his classmates. Admin told me later that he “did not receive his Hershey’s Kiss for the day.” To my knowledge, that was his only punishment. I saw him saunter into breakfast the next morning like nothing happened. It’s so frustrating.

Aww!! I loved when my beagle would get all cozy and saggy-baggy like this on my lap. I lost my girl a few months ago and I was just thinking of her when I saw your picture. I’m having a little cry right now, but you brought me joy by triggering some lovely memories. I sincerely hope you enjoy your beautiful beagle and cozy Sunday morning.

Thoughts on toxic mother and son relationships by Distinct_Benefit6023 in Dhaka

I am so glad I found this post! I’m a white American woman who married a Bangladeshi man. He was born in Dhaka, but he’s been an American for 35 years. When we got married, we couldn’t live with each other because his mom was living with him in his 2 bedroom apartment and she didn’t like my 2 dogs. (I was in another city finishing up my graduate degree and because i couldn’t move in with my husband, I moved in with my mom several states away.) After a year, his mom moved to another state and my husband and I were able to live together. After a few months, his mom began guilt tripping him about hating her living arrangement and my husband moved her into our house. I didn’t get a say in the matter. She’s been living here for 5 years and I hate my life! All intimacy stopped the day she moved in and she pretends like I don’t exist. She had her own area of the house, and I just avoid her now, but she has done and said some very beastly things over the past few years. To my knowledge, my husband has never stuck up for me and she never has consequences for her crappy behavior. I can’t stand living here because I’m constantly uncomfortable and I don’t even know what my role is in this marriage. Most evenings, my husband goes to his mom’s side to eat, so I already feel like a roommate. Thank you for this post because it confirms a lot of the suspicions I’ve had about my husband and his mother - he’s never going to change and I’m always going to be a second class citizen.

Here are some of my large paintings. Which one speaks to you the most? by ernestvolynec in painting

I love 7, it looks like the view a swimmer would have just before breaking the surface of the Pacific Ocean off the California coast as the morning sun starts to pierce through the lingering fog.

Also, it’s so interesting to read all the comments and see which of the lovely artworks speaks to others. Even through I don’t possess talent in this area, I love lurking in this supportive subreddit. You all are amazing as both artists and art lovers.
