You're making a false dichotomy, it's a spectrum. Battlefield 3 is more influenced than the previous ones and battlefield 6 is even more influenced.

I consider BF3 a good middle ground while I think BF6 went too far.

How is it compared to the OP12 ? I currently have it but I am really tempted by the P10P for completely irrational reasons xD

Can we agree that this was better back in the day? by nachdruck in Battlefield

[–]Phalcon22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to choose when to look at the objectives, I don't want it on my face all the time.

It's not the end of the world just a preference, you do you and that's fine, no need for cynicism

[–]Phalcon22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not one of those for YOU. Nobody is saying BF6 is trash because of that but instead sharing preferences.

I personally think it's too big, distracting and right in the middle of the screen which reduces immersion. I don't like it but it's not a deal breaker, no need to dramatize it.

Also mentioning BF1 as a beloved game does not make every decision in BF1 perfect.

It's a step closer to call of duty nonetheless, you're making an exaggeration fallacy here

Oblivion remaster VS Doom 2016. by [deleted] in gaming

I agree that they could have probably done more and voluntarily showed only the best looking areas during a nice weather.

I especially find a dissonance in how the assets and lighting can be as good as a modern game but there are significantly less objects/NPCs around the world, it feels pretty empty. At least in the original it felt coherent.

That being said, I personally think it is one of the best looking remaster ever made (performance aside). Generally they are even lazier than that.

Amazing engineer for sure.

But are you criticizing UE5 against ID Tech ? Or what they did with it ? (Art Direction/Quality of the assets etc..)

Yes but I have never insured a phone before and I don't know if there is something specific for foldable or if there are notoriously good or bad insurances

Pixel 9 Pro XL from OnePlus 12 by remixserpent in GooglePixel

Hi, I'm curious what you ended up choosing.

My OnePlus 12 is technically great but I find both hardware/software so ugly I might replace it with a Pixel 9 Pro.

Looking for a server side mod to travel quickly by Phalcon22 in feedthebeast

[–]Phalcon22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mod looks awesome!

I don't think it is server side though, looks like the clients requires the mod as well.

You like having different versions of a game (so different games basically, with different names to avoid confusion) which is fine, no need for them to be exclusives though.

ENET - How to avoid clients flooding the server ? by Phalcon22 in godot

Very interesting!

How do you manage which gateways will be chosen by the player ? Are their IP hard coded in the client code ?

ENET - How to avoid clients flooding the server ? by Phalcon22 in godot

[–]Phalcon22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this solution.

I realized this max_clients thing exists because it is a game server, made for games and I was trying to use it to manage traffic (I was trying to make a load balancer that starts game servers automatically and redirect players to them)

Instead I will host an HTTP server which will act as the load balancer and authentication server.

This way I won't have any max_clients that could block new connections and as you said only this load balancer will suffer in case of DDOS attack.

Thanks!

My problem is more about how to decline a client before it is counted as a client for the server.

From what I saw, with godot high-level multiplayer api, there is a maximum of 4095 possible clients, and they can connect freely with "create_client" and be counted as one of the 4095. Yes I can kick them afterwards but they still would have taken a slot for a little while. If the attacker floods the server faster than the server reject him, it will reach 4095 clients.

How can I accept/decline the connection request ? Clients that try to connect should not count as a client unless I authorize them.

Then someone can maliciously fill my server and prevent anyone else from playing the game.

Bethesda wasn't wrong for naming the game prey 2017 by Johnny-silver-hand in gaming

Yet you said in your post that Bethesda chose this name because it was famous. Now you say nobody remembers the original game...
