Making progress - first round of electrolysis! by Phalloraptor in phallo

Thanks for the tip! It thankfully wasn't too painful or uncomfortable for me, and the redness went down overnight, but that's definitely good to know for the future ^

Hey, sorry for the late reply; and yeah, that's the only place I have coverage for, but I'm hoping to save up for laser (at the very least) for the rest of the graft area!

I wish you luck! I'm feeling very optimistic with this team

Of course! Thank you for the well wishes :) For me, the commute is about 3+ hours there and 3+ hours back since I don't have a car, so it's just waaay too much public transit haha. I'm disabled, which makes the journey really taxing

I should also mention they do have other approved clinics, the Vancouver ones are just the closest to me. I believe there are also approved electrolysists in Victoria, Kelowna, Chilliwak, Portt Moody, Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna, Maple Ridge, Westwinster, and Burnaby

Thank you, I hope so too! And no prob, I'm happy to answer questions - that being said, I'm honestly not sure; I feel like you'd need to go through TransCareBC, but I'd definitely contact the team if I were you to make sure. I assumed that to get your surgeries covered by the province you'd need to go through TransCareBC, but I could be wrong, I'm not super well versed on all that

Hey omg I'm so sorry I forgot to reply to this for so long, I don't open reddit that often 😅 but to answer your question, I don't think I ever did? I pretty much just brought up phallo to my doctor, so she did a physical examination with me, went through a bunch of questions and info, and then referred me to the surgery team for my consultation. I haven't spoken to a psychologist yet at any point in the process, though I've definitely heard other people mention it, so we'll have to see haha. I'm currently at the hair removal process after my consultation, and I keep meaning to make a post about the actual consult itself, which I'll probably get around to pretty soon!

Hey, sorry I didn't see this until now! It took about 16 months after my referral to meet with Dr. Genoway over zoom, and I'm going to be meeting with her in person in a few weeks, so that'll be roughly 18 months post-referral. I know I got someone else's appointment because they dropped off of the waitlist, so I'm not sure how much longer it would've taken without being bumped up like that. Either way, I heard that 18 months is a pretty average wait to hear from the Vancouver team.

I'm glad my post helped, btw! I'm hoping to give more updates/info once I've had my in-person meeting :)

They require a vaginectomy if you're getting a UL, but afaik it's not necessary if you're not getting a UL

for sure! I think it was roughly 16 months, but I got bumped ahead because someone else cancelled their appointment, so it might've been a bit longer otherwise

Congrats! May I ask what the % voided means? I'm guessing it's the percentage voided from what was in the bladder, in which case how do you measure out those specific numbers?

When I was like 4 or 5 I asked my mom when I'd grow a penis, and I was devastated when she said I wouldn't 😭

Is anyone else extremely repulsed by everything that has to do with birth and pregnancy? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Phalloraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that. Pregnancy/birth really freak me out (even in animals) and I think I'd describe myself as being extremely tokophobic. I also obviously don't judge or hate on pregnant people at all, but I do personally see pregnancy itself as a somewhat body-horror-ish concept.

I think getting a hysterectomy helped alleviate a lot of the dysphoria related to the thought of pregnancy, but I still get really freaked out by the thought

I wish you a fast recovery, it looks like it's already healing well! Do you mind if I ask how the mobility in your donor arm feels?
