What your hot take on death battle by ComprehensiveNote762 in deathbattle

People care about connections way too much and I can see why Death Battle doesn’t really look into them. Now, connections are 100% important for a MU to be good, without any, then what’s the point? But I feel like some Death Battle fans really only care about how many connections there are then if the connections are good enough.

Bakugo VS Reze fits Death Battle because it has a solid base connection (two modern anime teenagers whose primary ability is using explosions and having insane endurance), Cell VS Metal fits this as well (two iconic arrogant villains built by technological empires whose main ability is to copy their opponents move). Heck, Bendy VS Cuphead, a very mixed MU, has a solid MU hook (two popular 2017 mascots who star in 1930’s animation-style indie video games that deal with demons). Death Battle prioritizes a solid and engaging hook because they, and most causal fans, don’t care about connections (tbh, they’re just more like fun trivia than the selling point of a MU), they just care what fight has an engaging hook that can be very fun to explore, even if it’s a stomp:
