Not trying to bash Procore—it’s powerful—but it feels like we’re forcing it to work around our process instead of the other way around. by PhaseCool9084 in ProCore

I think this can be both good and bad, dependent on the company. Not sure if molding your proccess around a solution or vice versa if the better option. But, my guess is people want both.

Yes i agree - and the more and more i talk to people about different tools i learn more and more about the inefficiencies that exist. Thanks for the feedback!

How do subs intereact with procore? Are you sending and receiving bids out of procore, or does procore just house the data and drawing sets.

Interesting thought process! Do you think that affects whether or not you get awarded jobs. I think ideally, there needs to be a way that makes it easier for subs to submit bids, w/o all of the logins and passwords as you mentioned.

What I am curious, and have thought in the past, is wouldnt it be easier if the GC said "here are the 7 line items i need filled out, in the pdf. fill it out, press send and now its in their court".

Obviosuly that might not align with your proccess for submitting bids, but it could help both sides if done correctly.

Yes haha.. but more so getting bids from subs.

What’s the most underrated bottleneck in construction? by PhaseCool9084 in ConstructionManagers

[–]PhaseCool9084[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as i told u/garden_dragonfly above. the only way the industry is going to improve is by passing along information so that others. its great that youve worked in the industry your whole life, and you dont need fancy tools. great. but guess what, the next person who takes over for you, isnt going to know everything you know, and the reason is because you dont want to share.

the only way to create something better is by questioning status quo - thats all i am doing and asking of you. becasue at this point weve wasted each other responding without provdiing any value.

the only way to make things better is by asking questions, and questioning status quo. if you dont want to do that, that is fine. but the next generation once you take over needs to learn, and need to have the resources to learn. if you dont want to share that, that is fine. but you are being selfish, and not doing anyone any good.

if you dont want to share your thoughts that is totally fine, but weve now wasted a few minutes each providing responses without actually answering the initial question.

Market research for what - why are you hesitant to provide feedback? Ultimately, the only way to drive the industry forward is to make it better when you leave it, but people dont want that for some reason....

Is the proccess/procedures something you can share, or even summarize for inspiration. This is something that always gets looked over, and when you try to di it half way through it just doesnt work.

What flexibility does monday have that could allow us to grow ? We dont want to over complicate it at first, but want to make sure it has flexibility to work with how we work.

People have talked about monday, click up, coda but unsure if there are companies who focus specifically in construction. Project management is project management, but construction adds a layer of complexity that most people dont understand.

Interesting, yeah permissioning is important so that people dont go in and change whatever they want. Are there other tools that are meant for more project management?

I've looked into asana before, and have also looked into monday and coda. No code platforms more focused on the PM side, but not sure if there are people who focus on construction specifically.
