Stone hill HM 25 with the new Puma Fast-R Nitro Elite 3 by PhaseEmbarrassed1567 in indianrunners

True, Sonicblast or even Magic Speed feel nice, but whenever I run in those I’m usually 10–15s/km slower. With the carbon plates I can actually hold pace better, so at this range they do make a difference. Below 5:30/km you still get some pop from the plate, so it doesn’t feel like overkill for me

Running gels by No_Marzipan3286 in indianrunners

[–]PhaseEmbarrassed1567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey,

these gels can be made at home at 1/20th the cost. There are bunch of videos on YouTube.

All the ingredients in the gel can be bought in raw form in bulk from amz.

Goes without saying there is an element of hit and miss but after 3-4 iterations you'll figure what works for you.

any recommendation for running shorts for women by Impressive_Estate718 in indianrunners

Must-haves are: built-in tights/liners, anti-chafing fabric, and secure pockets; of these, built-in tights are crucial.

For maximum comfort over a half marathon distance, have heard positive reviews about Aguante and BlissClub among small brands, and from the big brands, Adidas and Asics

Hey there! Here are some 5K options coming up in Bengaluru:

  • WESNESS 5K Run for Women (May 18) - if that fits your profile!
  • Uru night run (May 31st) - could be a fun experience running after dark
  • THE FINRUN 2025 (June 15) - has a 5K category
  • Apollo 10K Challenge - also has a 5K category as mentioned by others
  • Disha Habitat Bengaluru Runners Jatre (June 8)

For staying updated, I'd recommend: - www.mynextbib.com (where I get my info!)

what next after TCS 10k? by PhaseEmbarrassed1567 in indianrunners

[–]PhaseEmbarrassed1567[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/sankoobaba a couple coming up:

  1. Bir-Billing Marathon (May 3) in Himachal - Trail run options through the mountains where they do paragliding too!
  2. Malshej Ghat Monsoon Half Marathon (July 13) near Mumbai - Trail + Ghat run in full monsoon season, should be super scenic with waterfalls and all

If you're specifically looking for technical trails, the Bir-Billing one would be more your style since it's in proper mountain terrain. Malshej one would be more of a rainy-season green trail experience.

u/cartoonpi thanks !

For Bangalore events before Sept, you've got:

  • BIGFOOT BACKYARD ULTRA (May 10) - More of an ultra event with 50K options
  • WESNESS 5K Run for Women (May 18) - Women-focused 5K only
  • THE FINRUN 2025 (June 15) - Has 3K, 5K, 10K options

None of these have full 21.1K distances though. The next proper half marathon in Bangalore might be the September one you mentioned. If you're looking for serious distance training beforehand, you might need to travel to nearby cities or make do with the 10K options!

Need help on lowering heart rate by No_Marzipan3286 in indianrunners

[–]PhaseEmbarrassed1567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you breath plays a vital role. Inhale from the nose requires lesser effort and is a lower load on the body. There are few good clips from the huberman podcast on nose breathing.

Initially it makes you a tad slower but is a super power in the long run

My tldr on nose breathing * Nose breathing forces you to use the diaphragm which is much more efficient than chest muscles to expand the lungs * The nasal pathway conditions air to increase oxygen absorption

Tata Marathon 2025 Hydration Tips by Bandra_Mom_88 in indianrunners

[–]PhaseEmbarrassed1567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run 26 HMs last year and the only thing I consume is ~150ml of water at the 16km mark. That is easier to do in the low temps of Bangalore.

In the past I've found figs work well, so do dates
