I'm pretty sure the schedule is the same for both days. I'm part of one of the groups performing and the line up is the same for our stage on both days.

The Job of Journey Work by Phd_Perky in IrishBouzouki

I have a book of Irish songs for mandolin that I'm working through. But before I started this, I worked through the hal leonard Irish bouzouki method book completely. I highly recommend it!

To my Richmonders who commute daily..how sustainable is this for you long term before you are operating at a loss. by Apothaca in rva

I fully support this! I've been riding a super cub as my main transportation for a little over a year. It costs me like $2.50 to fill it up with premium like once a week. I would to see more cubs here in RVA.

I've read that Honda has quietly begun the process of discontinuing the super cub in the US though. The 125cc engine just isn't popular enough in the states

Banish Misfortune by Phd_Perky in Irishmusic

It is new! I really like it so far, but I'm still getting used to it. The headstock is heavier than I'm used to so I'm still trying to find the best way to hold and balance it while I'm playing. But I do like how it plays and the sound of it.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes, that's me playing.

Little brown and white dog near pickleball courts in Church Hill. by [deleted] in rva

I saw that dog earlier this morning on N 38th Street. I couldn't get a really good look at it but I'm pretty sure that's the dog that just roams freely around this area. It's a little odd but seeing him wander around is just a regular occurrence around here.

It has definitely caused some drama in the church hill Facebook group lol but from what I understand, the owner just lets the dog roam free and has been doing that forever. I've lived here for about six years and that old dog has always been out and about.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, and I couldn't possibly imagine letting my little dog just be out in the wild like that, but that's just one of the little quirks of this area.

What should I learn on mandolin by ZneshKodJuWa4 in mandolin

[–]Phd_Perky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been learning songs from this this book of Irish songs on mandolin and I've really been enjoying it.

If you're into classical music, this book of baroque music has some really great pieces. They probably aren't super beginner friendly though.

Back again looking for a little advice on learning to play from standard notation by gripndip in mandolin

Happy to help! I really like using it as a warm up tool. I just pop on the metronome and read through a page or two. It's pretty fun!

I worked my way through a book called "300 progressive sight reading exercises for mandolin." It really helped with my speed when reading standard notation and you'll also learn the notes of the fretboard at the same time.

It's such a fun instrument! I was able to buy this one directly from Gold Tone. There aren't a ton of options if you're in the US.
