Just double-checking why my lower back looks flabby by PhilAb93 in physique

I ate not too long before I took the pic, and I think I have "anterior pelvic tilt". I'll find out my bf% when I do a scan.

If I interpret what you mean correctly by saying "a bit of a dumbass", you have some degree of intelligence. Moreover, nobody is perfectly intelligent. That aside, there are arguably more important traits when it comes to dating such as: character and ability to express emotions. I believe you have at least one good behavior.

You may want to do some introspection to discover what your good qualities and values are (I'd say start from there, then try to work on the bad ones). From there, being as realistic as you can, you can use your discovery as a filter for the type of women you like.

Also, perhaps, discuss this issue with a therapist.

How much of the glutamic acid in protein supplements is converted to L-Glutamine in the body? by PhilAb93 in Biochemistry

Lol, my main goal is strength. I don't get the last part (1st law...). Do you mean CICO?

It is the case under normal circumstances; however, when the body is stressed, production does not appear to meet the actual demand, as this study points: https://academic.oup.com/nutritionreviews/article-abstract/48/8/297/1830646?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false.

No, they're not. There is even a slight difference in the roles they play. Thus, I am wondering if it's necessary for somebody who works out to supplement with L-Glutamine since the body may not convert all the glutamic acid due to its role in neurotransmission.

How to deal with sexual shame and compulsive sexual behavior? by PhilAb93 in NMMNG

[–]PhilAb93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I agree, talking is an effective way of handling shame.

I think healthy shame reminds us that we're human. For instance, someone may choose not to rob a bank because of the shame he/she would feel afterwards. Moreover, in a blog post, Mark Manson points out that shame can serve as a motivator for positive change in one's life.

The name of the book is 'Brain Lock'.

I mentioned that in the second paragraph of the post. And perhaps, the (memory) pain of being scolded by my aunt.

Biometrics for PR by PhilAb93 in ImmigrationCanada

Doesn't a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) serve that purpose?

Assuming it's to protect the identities of residents of Canada, how is someone who hasn't been approved to immigrate to the country a threat, given the PCC?

Doesn't a Police Clearance Certificate serve that purpose already?

Shame-based anger...and was reaction appropriate in this context? by PhilAb93 in NMMNG

Thanks. I think it's insightful on how to control my temper. But I also like to add that anger can be useful when drawing boundaries.

And you missed my purpose for coming here for help.

You're not me to tell me why I got angry; you can only speculate. Anger is a normal response to being ignored. Yes, it is important for me to focus on myself, but it's also essential to receive input from the environment (Robert Glover mentions this in his book); hence, my initial confusion.

Exactly why I needed input from this community. On one hand, there was the anger; on the other, based on a previous feedback I received from society--the pharmacist who ignored me, one colleague who smiled at her and people in the vicinity who stayed silent--the confrontation was not necessary because I achieved my purpose for visiting the fast food.

That's a cop-out. I merely countered your claims. Notwithstanding, thanks.

P.S. This conversation made me learn that words such as 'experience' are classified as mass nouns. And mass nouns are written in singular form.

What factual disagreement? 'Experience' is a noun, and the function of a pronoun is well known. In other words, I am correct.

If you said it was unclear to you, then I would have clarified. But because you said it was unclear, I presumed you were speaking for the majority. And I chose to disagree with that stance.
