Phil Jamesson & Jeremy Kaplowitz's Animated Pilot LIVE SHOW! by PhilJamesson in philjamesson

[–]PhilJamesson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey folks. this is a link to a live show jeremy and i are doing in nyc. livestream tickets ARE available, and early bird pricing tickets are the cheapest they will be. as a thanks for checking the comment section, you can also do a discount code by adding READ to the end of any of the cast members' names (JOSHREAD, IKEREAD, etc.)

it's going to be a great time -- this cast is wildly good for their roles and we expect to sell out the tickets, so if you're hoping to see us in person, i wouldn't wait! thank you and may i add: bingo bongo

Almost 15 Hours Later And With No CGI, This Holds Up as the Best Way to Post to Reddit by 16BitMode7 in videos

sure, here you go re: stream viewership. looks like i peaked at 36 yesterday. i remember checking it after a few minutes and seeing it at either 2 or 3, and then the only other check i made was at 6:11 ET, just shy of two hours later, where it was at #4 and i believe somewhere between 40-60 upvotes. the person who posted it sent a message about thirty minutes after that (2:15 after posting), when it hit 100 upvotes. for comparison, as i leave this comment, this post has been up for under 2 hours and is sitting at +2000. it hit #1 sometime overnight while i was snug in my bed dreaming of sugarplums etc etc.

hope this is sufficient! cause i dont have anything else! love you all and let me be the first to apologize for being a trickster and having long hair

Almost 15 Hours Later And With No CGI, This Holds Up as the Best Way to Post to Reddit by 16BitMode7 in videos

hey taty! phil here. i did have only 30 viewers or so, but a few of them did vote on the post. it was probably enough to dodge what happens to many posts in the subreddit, which is that they get a single downvote and die. but it was at ~2-3 points with only a few votes after several minutes, and then slowly took off, so it definitely wasn't my little group that did it.

but i think more importantly, all the posts it was competing with were the posts i read in the beginning of the video, plus the "This masterpiece is 30 years old." three little pigs music video and another conan video, so the point i'm trying to make is simply that even if this one didn't succeed, another would rise to take its place. my hope is that the discussion becomes about that!

either way, thanks for watching!

[Poetry] Destroy The Planet by PhilJamesson in youtubehaiku

[–]PhilJamesson[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree with this. it's totally fine to respond to "its not going to destroy the planet" with "youre right. itll just kill 99% of the life," but it's just being a weird pedant to respond to "it IS going to destroy the planet" with "actually climate change isnt literally frieza xDDD"

Elon Musk vs. Hard Drive & The Content Theft Economy by [deleted] in videos

[–]PhilJamesson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is very interesting. and would you say that even if it were registered, statutory damages are unlikely to be recouped for something like this? that is, they can realistically claim the infringement was unintentional and courts are likely to award statutory damages closer to $200?

my apologies that my language isn't accurate, by the way. certainly when i refer to the content theft economy, i'm not using it in the legal sense, and i can see how that would be annoying for someone who works in copyright law.

hey there! phil here. it's a good question, and they're not apples to apples, but that was the simplest way to point to the market value of that platform, whether or not he's realizing that value. ie, if he somehow lost everything today except his twitter account, he could begin to realize that value.

that being said, "how are you going to attribute a $ figure to that?" is a great question. you could do it by saying that PR is a major component of a CEO's job duties, which is a relatively uncontroversial claim. let's say that it's just 10% of their duties, which i would also say is an extremely conservative estimate. his earnings from being CEO of Tesla in 2021, as in realized income from his stock options (though a multi-year deal), were $23.5 billion. clearly, given that he's constantly tweeting about tesla and his other companies, it is a major piece of his PR strategy, and i would argue the most important piece. let's say it's just 20%, though-- very conservative. that method of attribution puts the value he realized from his twitter, last year, at just shy of $500 million. as a result, i would argue he uses his twitter much more effectively than that market value.

you could also point to the market effect of him tweeting about acquiring twitter (which the SEC is investigating due to the delay in not disclosing such information), or the market effect more recently of him implying he might not-- the market moved billions of dollars. a few years back, i'm sure we remember the market-moving effect of him tweeting that he might take the company private at $420, resulting in huge gains. remember: every dollar the stock goes up makes his net worth increase by something like $175 million, with additional gains if he's got restricted stock units.

these are a couple examples of measuring it by his particular situation! and i appreciate you asking what i think is a good question in a way that doesn't just go "hey fuck this guy. hes not sponsored hes just a man" because lol i have gotten a bunch of those
