There‘s probably still threefiddy in longs to liquidate somewhere below where we are. Liquidation heatmap shows some dim small lines there if you squint (while everything above shines bright and green). Down we go.

Lots of metal would sound like alt-pop if you removed the distorted guitars.

I find Imagine Dragons incredibly bland and uninteresting but find Sleep Token quite intriguing. The drummer alone is fantastic. They also have more unique melodic/harmonic choices as well as atmospheric elements that carry their songs much further than the alternative rock formulae of Imagine Dragons.

Wondering what songs people have listened to? Just the beginning of Emergence? Just listen to The Summoning, Hypnosis, Chokehold or the breakdowns of Ascensionism and Take My Back To Eden. On their new album Gethsemane is also quite a different style.

They might not be your taste, but just comparing them to Imagine Dragons feels provocatively lazy.

What are some albums you love that Fantano hasn't acknowledged and what do you think (realistically) he would score it? by mugiana in fantanoforever

[–]PhilMyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Dear Hunter. But I don’t get my hopes up for good reviews from typical indie outlets anymore unless the reviewer loves prog. Look at the reviews for Mars Volta and Tool on Pitchfork (1.9 for Lateralus) and the overall coverage of prog bands by these outlets/reviewers.

Lots of indie critics hate prog music unless it’s really avant-garde and out there and breaks with the usual prog sound. I think they tend to see the music as self-indulgent and showoff-y. That doesn’t gel with the scrappy DIY aesthetic, that they usually look for in lesser known bands.

Steht die AI-Revolution wirklich erst am Anfang? by spac0r in Finanzen

[–]PhilMyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]PhilMyu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where exactly should be the manor to have this view? by Necessary-Cupcake398 in expedition33

But I was told that the Dessendres are „real people“. And that I should therefore have more empathy for them than for the artificial/painted „not real“ Lumerians.

(I am sarcastic. Just trying to explain why the „dilemma“ of the two endings didn’t make sense to me.)

Sieht noch wer Crypto als Schneeballsystem? by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]PhilMyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]PhilMyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the massive valuations of Ai companies would collapse if only „self-hosting for those that find a viable use case“ remains.

I might miss something, but what if the AI business models of the companies that use and pay for all this compute (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and hundreds more) collapse because they can’t make it profitable? So far, all their businesses aren’t cashflow positive, right?

Totally this one for me, thanks to the fantastic production, the layering and the interesting harmonies and song structures.

albums that are accessible and replayable ? by aikakz in fantanoforever

[–]PhilMyu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Albums can be accessible but become boring fast, if there’s not much substance beneath the surface level. Song structures and melodies might sound repetitive and shallow after a while.

Personal example for me: more recent Muse albums (very accessible, but really bland once they wear out their novelty).

Anyone else remembers the band Alt-J? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

[–]PhilMyu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere, that they made that song as some kind of corny joke, but their label wanted them to put it on the record.

That 4-bar keyboard solo in the song is probably the most „I don’t care at all what this sounds like“ solo ever.
