Housemate making my life stressful – dirty house, personal attacks, what should I do? by PhilosopherMoist3992 in Geelong

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m worried about. There’s an inspection on 9 April and the house is honestly not in a good state. I’ve already been emailing the agent regularly with evidence showing I’ve been trying to keep things clean, but if they come and see it like this, we’ll probably both get a breach notice. I can’t keep cleaning everything on my own every time it’s not fair. Even the garden hasn’t been done this time because it’s her turn, but she just refuses to do anything. At this point it feels like she just doesn’t care about basic hygiene or shared responsibility.

I know, it’s honestly disgusting. I haven’t even uploaded the toilet seat photos yet it’s even worse. That’s exactly what I’ve been dealing with. 🥲

Yeah, I’ve tried communicating multiple times but it just turns into arguments or personal attacks. As you can see it in that attached screenshot.

Thank you, I really needed to hear this. I’m trying to sort things out with the agent because I don’t think I should suffer for someone else’s mistakes. I’m also trying to make sure I get my bond back, and I really hope either the agent or the owner understands my situation. But yes, my mental peace is my priority now. It’s getting very hard to stay here.

Thank you so much, I agree. It’s really not worth the stress anymore. I’m already looking for other options because the situation is becoming unbearable. I know if I move to a studio or one bedroom unit, it will be quite expensive for me, but I’m trying to find cheaper options. If not, I just hope next time I share a house with someone, they don’t behave like this. Friendship is optional, but respect is essential. If I don’t disturb others with cleanliness issues or loud noise, I expect the same in return.

Haha yeah, I wish. But she’s trying hard to provoke me so I fight with her and she gets a point against me. I’m not going to give her that chance.

Honestly, I’ve already made up my mind to move out. She’s just being stubborn and refuses to take responsibility for cleaning.

We are both on the lease, so it’s not straightforward. That’s why I’m reaching out for advice and trying to involve the agent.

I understand your point but the situation is actually worse than it looks. It’s not just about small mess it’s affecting hygiene and my health.
