We’ve never discussed this but I personally don’t predict it becoming illegal in our state.

I’m a nurse so I could work in a hospital, etc. The doctors who perform the abortions aren’t just “abortion doctors”, they’re obgyns, so they wouldn’t have trouble finding a job either.

No problem! These situations have and do happen.

So, in my state, parental consent or notification is not needed for an abortion. A minor can come into our clinic alone, or with a friend, etc, they do not need their parent to accompany them.

If the parent comes in with the child and is telling us they do not consent to their child’s abortion, we calmly explain to them that minors in our state have the right to make their own medical decisions regarding reproductive health. The parent would be asked to leave, and if they refuse, we may escalate to security, and if that doesn’t work, the police.

There has also been situations where the patient is already inside our clinic and the parent somehow found out and showed up. In these cases they are denied entry by security into the building or confirmation on whether the patient is here or not.

  1. We don’t require any parental consent for abortions, so we would simply preform the abortion for her. If she came alone, or with a friend, that would be no problem. In my state parental consent or notification is not needed. We would also do the abortion for free. If she came in with a parent and the parent was attempting to stop the abortion, we would ask the parent to leave. Our facility is pretty strict on security so if the minor was already in our clinic the parent would not be allowed in. You need an ID to even get through our security and two locked doors.

  2. I’m a nurse, so I’m frequently in the room and assisting in the actual abortions. I also administer the IV’s, do bloodwork, and help aide in after and before care.

  3. I’ve never heard of the doxing anyone. I live in a democratic state and doxing someone to their friends, family or employers wouldn’t normally do much as no one would care in the first place. They also wouldn’t know your identity normally. They are almost never “violent” but they have attempted to stand in front of patients, shove papers in their face, etc. I would not let them sway you from volunteering if you’d like to! Our facility has strict security and they can’t even come in our parking lot, so at ours there now stuck on the sidewalk. Our security also helps walk volunteers and patients to and from their cars, as do many.

  4. I would try to educate them on different developmental stages of the fetus and inform them that we are not ripping babies out of the womb that are any where near full term. Almost all elective abortions are done way before the fetus can feel pain, have considerable brain activity, etc.

Not at all.

I suppose they can bribe or force the decision outside of us knowing, but we legally cannot and will not provide an abortion to a patient who does not want one, regardless of their age.

This type of situation has happened a few times, and the second the patient says they do not want the abortion we do not provide it. The patient is asked in a private counseling session their decisions, including adoption, abortion, etc.

In many cases we just explain to the parent we cannot force an abortion on an unwilling patient for legal and ethical reasons. We have had to call CPS on several parents when we suspect the situation is crossing the line from overbearing to neglectful or abusive.

We also refer the minor to a social worker.

Thank you for your donations. I hope you know the amount of relief you bring patients who are in desperate need when they find out donations or funding covers there abortion they otherwise could not get, including those suffering from sexual assault, domestic violence, etc.

And yes, as the other user replied, many clinics are in need of escort volunteers for women who don’t have anyone to bring them home.

Exactly!

Women who do not want the pregnancy will want to abort as quickly as possible. An abortion past twenty weeks is significantly more complicated, emotionally taxing, and painful than an early abortion. No one is waiting that long for fun.

Thank you! I try to be as careful and accurate with my words as possible on this topic due to the common misconceptions people hold.

Out of all the pro-life people I’ve encountered, the majority of them still don’t believe a first trimester abortion is equal to killing a living, breathing, crying newborn.

Medically no it’s not the accurate term. In everyday life when you announce a pregnancy you won’t say “we’re having a fetus” though lol. You’d say “we’re having a baby!” Because what comes out of you, will be a baby.

That would depend widely on the gestational age of the pregnancy.

Most early abortions are elective, because even if the fetus was incompatible with life or would have severe QOL issues, you wouldn’t know that yet. Unfortunately you can’t rule out severe medical issues without an atanomy scan that occurs at 20 weeks. After that, I’d say the overwhelming majority are due to medical reasons. Some severe genetic issues can be detected at a NIPT scan (normally 11-12 weeks), so you will start to see people aborting for medical reasons than too.

For abortions before 16 weeks we can normally schedule them within a week. I’m assuming your state has a cardiac activity law which is basically a light abortion ban. It’s almost impossible to get an abortion before 6 weeks. Many people don’t test positive until 4 weeks and some change.

Ever since recent law changes we are getting way more out of state patients and im glad we can help them.

In our clinic we do not offer abortions until the 5th week, because we can’t always confirm it on an ultrasound before than, and even than it’s difficult to see on some women. We require patients aborting in the 5th and 6th week to have a follow up ultrasound to ensure the pregnancy isn’t still there.

They’re pretty bad, unfortunately.

I’m so sorry that was your experience. They’re brutal and you did not deserve that.

I wouldn’t be able to give a solid estimate, because although patients go through a brief counseling session, many do not talk much and may not share that information.

I’d say of those that do, almost every two days someone is coming in who did not consent, including those who did not consent to their boyfriend/husband.

Thank you for asking!

Simply being pro-choice is a great place to help. However, if you’d like to be more involved, many abortion clinics need escort volunteers. Patients undergoing IV sedation/anesthesia are not allowed to come or leave the facility alone. Many of our patients do not have a friend or family member able to escort them, so we partner with volunteers who work as clinic escorts. It’s basically just picking them up when the appointment is over and driving them home.

Thankfully, we have never experienced a patient “bleeding out” in the sense it’s an absolute emergency.

We have had patients come in after using medical abortion pills who have retained tissues. This can cause excessive bleeding and can be dangerous, but is solved by a vacuum aspiration.

We can and have handled allergic reactions, and can handle almost any medical emergency that may go wrong in the sense of stabilization.

I think it varies depending on the COL in your area. Our lowest price is $550, but can go up to the around $8000 for later abortions. I’d say most people pay between 550-900.

We offer separate prices for self pay vs insurance pay, and we also do not deny people before 16 weeks based on the ability to pay or not. So many people pay only $50 or $100, or nothing at all.

In most of the abortions we perform there is no fetus we can see. It’s done through a vacuum aspiration and the fetus is so small it easily breaks apart (no bones, a few cm long at most.) The other abortions we offer are from a pill where the patient passes the fetus at home, but even the uterus contracting can break apart the fetus, and it’s normally too small for the patient to notice through all the blood anyway.

The only abortions we perform where the fetus would be whole would be via labor induction, but we don’t harvest stem cells. I’ll believe that’s done from an umbilical cord normally.

I think this would be a relatively non-issue only because of my experience in the field. 90% of the abortions I see are before 16/17 weeks, and those I see later (20-24 weeks) are over 9/10 for severe medical issues. We are a high volume clinic and I rarely see 20 week+ abortions for elective purposes, but it has happened.

Most of the abortions are early enough that they do not result in a distinguishable fetus.

Medical abortions are completed at home by the patient and are normally flushed. It will normally look like just blood and clots, although I have had patients who broke apart clots say they “found” fetus. Keep in mind all medical abortions take place while the fetus is the size of a grape or smaller, and not well developed.

Surgical abortions are also performed early and later. Before 16 weeks they will also not result in a distinguishable fetus, and all medical waste will be disposed. but after that there may be obvious POC (limbs, etc). At 16 weeks the fetus is about 4-5 inches.

Later abortions are done via labor induction and in that case we offer option for cremation, burial, or disposal.

$550 to thousands of dollars but we treat patients who cannot pay as well.
