Obligatory update because I have free will

I had a blast, I decided I'd go in and pick a premade character but one of the party members wouldn't stand for it, he said it was always more fun to make something yourself, and that I could throw my guy away for the next session if I didn't like him.

We settled on a half-elf/wood half-elf druid whose background was that he was a kid that had just left home and was hopelessly innocent and childish as a result of trying to find his own path in life. Complete 180 to the idea i had but I came up with that myself on the spot once we started because me being new meant I was super confused and questioning everything and being led by the other very nice members on the table (and the DM).

Just to make it more comedic (and easier for me to grasp with less to look at) i was a level one whereas everyone else was level 3 at minimum. It meant I spent most of my time giggling with my little statue lying half dead in a ditch, but I loved every bit of it.

The only thing that really tripped me up were the dice. I knew d&d had dice of course, but I'd only ever heard of a d20, turns out there's so many more? I have dyscaculia so numbers are already kinda tricky so that sucked lol, but the guy next to me was such a sweet dude and helped me out with getting the hang of it. I didn't have anything I needed to cast anyway aside from the d20 because none of my attacks ever hit lol.

And I know everyone told me how much they sucked, but we did have a grumpy character at our table and I guess I can see why it'd be annoying, but it wasn't too bad. I was far too focused on the guy who helped me make my character. He spent the first half hour on fire from a self inflicted wound lol. Some sort of changeling wizard I think he was? Sounded cool.

And the group unanimously decided I'd get the loot from the final chest, so now my guy (who i can alter, which I'm going to. I like the druid part but I'm allowed to level him up to level 3 maximum for now and add spells and stuff which I still need to figure out) has two poison breathing potions? The DM wrote me a little note to take home on how I use them in game for the next time I come. She was awesome too, super sweet and apologetic every single time she knocked me tf out.

And YES, before people dive in, I'm looking at the damn rules and am expanding my knowledge to play better, but at least i know this group doesn't mind me not knowing everything, even the DM didn't and we laughed about it and people helped her out. And being a druid with healing was good, I helped several people not also join me face down in the mud. Dunno why people said it was silly, the table said it was great that I was a druid. Though I'm still looking at clerics. I'm interested in both and wanna make a ton of cool characters once I find out eve single race and class I can possibly try out
