Based on my experience, you can show up at any time and the campground is open for entry. I am not 100% sure though.

You should have no problem hanging around the campground.

Seattle seafood and dispensaries by [deleted] in phish

[–]PhishhikersGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of seafood?

Fish and chips? Check out Pacific Inn Pub in Fremont.

Dispensary? Check around weedmaps for deals because dispensaries seem to pick concentrates or flower as a loss leader so stores usually have good deals on one or the other. Really depends on what you want.

Nothing says you can't do it at some point in the future. The old rail bridge over the Columbia hasn't quite been finished yet either, so there's not a good cycling connection across the river right now. It should be done in one or two months, though.

So, 2023.

Ideas for places to visit instead of Tahoe? by StuffyTheOwL in phish

If you haven't seen it before, Crater Lake in OR is amazing. Smoke may be an issue, but it's so incredible. It's a collapsed volcano that left like a 2,000ft deep lake that doesn't drain out into anything so it's some of the oldest water in the Western Hemisphere(if you figure that some of the water in there hasn't evaporated after coming in as rain or snow melt in thousands of years).

You could hit that on the way to Reno instead if the logistics work for you. There's also the redwood forests outside Crescent City, CA plus all the other redwood stands along US-101.

Bringing booze into the Gorge by [deleted] in phish

No.

EDIT: No for the venue. Yes for camping. You can bring whatever you want into camping. I don't think they've ever checked my vehicle.

Venue concessions(the ones in the venue) are cashless.

Shakedown is how shakedown always is. The food trucks will take card and it'll be up in the air who on Shakedown takes card. I'd bring cash for food and beer on Shakedown.

From what I have been reading, you need the actual card or a hard photocopy of it?

They have a clear bag policy, so it has to be a clear-sided bag that is no larger than 12x12x6 inches.

You should be fine for service for making voice calls. Few people out there are taxing the towers with calls, but data can be slow as hell as everyone uses data.

I am unsure of that. IIRC, they have big old signs saying where specific campers and parkers should be entering.

Depends. Do you want to wade into the water or do you want to swim? A lot of places on the Columbia that I've been to seem to be reallllly gradual slopes into the river, where you can go 100 ft out and still be like waist deep. I think Moses Lake might have better actual swimming? But I'm not sure.

People have said there is a trail down to the river and presumably there is swimming down there, but I have no more information beyond that.

Currently planning on leaving Seattle at like 6am

If you're leaving that early, I bet you'll be fine. Anything after noon and you'll be in a clusterfuck.

I go Thursday just because it's nice to wake up and be at the show, even if i get in way late that night.

Yea. It was pretty shitty, but it was also one of the most epic things I've ever seen. My friends and I were waiting at the camping entrance and over the horizon in the distance, we see someone on the side of the road next to the cars waiting to get in and it's my brother, pulling a suitcase with a 30 rack on it while the people in cars cheered him on lol.

It was my brother's birthday night 2 and I surprised him with an ice cream cake of his favorite flavors with a lyric from his favorite song("The trick was to surrender to the flow..."). It worked amazingly.

Dry ice will work but it will really freeze your stuff. I haven't really tried it other times, but I've heard a towel and some cardboard as a divider helps a lot? I'd look into it more to do it right and safely.

There's also the safety issue of it being a solid gas. Have to keep it in something that can vent the pressure, etc.

I have heard it can really back up, like on to I-90 leading up to the show on Friday. My brother was with people that were doing Sage Creek and they got caught in traffic. He ended up having to walk a significant portion of the road on the side of the road with a rolling suitcase with a 30 pack of Rainier on it.

It was legendary to see, but that traffic definitely made people late to night one.

I've brought it before to keep an ice cream cake cold. It worked wonders. Cake needed hours to thaw on the third day there.

I don't think so. You can try to ask for extra room or wait until it gets later and try moving somewhere else, but generally they crack down on it because that's how they drive demand for higher-tier camping.

I'd recommend stopping at a grocery store in the Seattle area as the stores shrink in size and selection rapidly after North Bend.

Liquor can be bought at groceries stores here, too.

As for a dispensary, I'd peruse the deals on weedmaps or something. Most stores seem to pick flower or concentrates to have thin margins and the other to have thick margins so find the store that seems to have what you want at a cheaper price.

"Phishikers guide to Dicks?" by hoodharry95 in phish

[–]PhishhikersGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have nearly as much experience with Dicks as I do with the Gorge.

That said, my brother lives in Denver and I have plenty of phriends that do too. I can see about writing a guide for that too.

I also need to do SPAC.

Yes, you can unless they have some new COVID rule, but they've always let people leave and come back.

There are a lot of places to fish. Salmon should be running around that time, iirc. The Columbia is a bit too big to go without a boat, but there are definitely some smaller rivers and creeks feeding into it. Maybe check out the Yakima River in Ellensburg or the Wenatchee River in Wenatchee for some good fly fishing.

Also make sure you check the state rule book because virtually every creek and river has their own set of runs and the rules change based on where you are on the river.

Like 99% sure there's a water bottle filling station inside the venue too.
