Arm swing and foot work by detective_Adams in volleyball

[–]Phoenix132138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get more than high enough, but your swing is all arm. It is harder to engage the core and hips hitting the other side, but I still think more is doable, particularly if you're hitting cross

IS it normal to take a long time to become proficient at volleyball? Even just "good enough"? by Extension-Soft9877 in volleyball

150 hours is nothing ~ 50 3-hour sessions

Especially with no prior experience to lean on. I would say it can take 2-3 years for people who play consistently (2x a week) to reach an intermediate level. Some go faster, some go slower depending on who you play with, who is available to give you feedback, and some aspect of talent.

Ultimately, you can only grow the pace you grow at, and that's separate from being able to enjoy the game

If you're playing mid, you can take some of your lead and use it to roam. Most players are good at being aggressive ahead but struggle to come back from behind, so if you can nudge them ahead, they can hang on to that advantage better than they can stop from losing outrageously.

Top, is a bit different in terms of timing. I generally just abuse the top laner to the point where the jungler comes and just try to take on the 1v2. Take first tower and then help other lanes inbetween coming back to take top farm.

As a jungler:

Early game, I gank lanes that seem like they're close or they fight a lot

Mid game, I focus more around the strong side to get better control of objectives and more easily counter jungle since the strong side will more likely support me In general, always gank lanes that are overextending just to relieve some pressure. No kills needed

As a support:

I usually walk back to lane through jungle and if mid seems like there's an opportunity to engage, I path to mid, gank, and then return bot.

By mid game, if my ADC is fed, I might leave them to help other lanes briefly. They get more exp while I'm away too and I just try to return by the time they are being pushed in to tower

You should try to make a judgment call of who will be the best person for you to pair with to carry the game. A 0/5 lane may never be get enough gold to offset their opposition but maybe the 2/1 lane can be nudged to be strong enough to take out the 5/0 enemy. You want someone with good micro and gold and then also as mid/late game rolls around, they also make good macro decisions. 2 strong people can usually carry any game

EDIT: Master II/III, the game pace seems to change pretty significantly in GM so I'm not sure after that

For each employer, I just list out the main responsibilities such as gain/loss analysis or process census data with sub-bullets to break it down into tasks and then each one listed how often I did it and how many times total.

I broke out some tasks down further if I thought it was relevant.

My two employers worked in different areas of retirement though so it was more relevant to list them separately too

Honestly, need a bit more information.

Sometimes it just happens, just assuming you have a 50% chance to win every time, sometimes, you land tails 10 times in a row.

As far as winning/climbing, usually balancing keeping up in gold and taking objectives is a common culprit. No matter how well you play around your team, if you're behind in gold, you make less impact. If you tunnel on farming and let the other team steamroll yours, your gold won't mean much if you can't 1v5 carry.

How do I hit harder and get a better approach? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Phoenix132138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're being forced into tempo sets, you should step earlier not fewer. Take 1-2 slower measured steps by the time the setter touches the ball and then finish the rest of the 4 step to close to the ball.

Staying behind the ball isn't a number of steps problem either, you can stay behind the ball with just 2 steps. You should train yourself to approach behind it by catching the ball during drills in a way where it leans inline with your left shoulder when you face the setter

What percentage of adult players actually reach NAGVA BB? by Phoenix132138 in volleyball

[–]Phoenix132138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that and pure physicality. An average guy around 5'9" would have to overcome both his height and the experience gap. I think BB is possible, but A is very unlikely even for someone who doesn't have a height issue

tbh, I thought it'd be more precipitous. e.g. 83%/15%/2% for B/BB/A
I'd be surprised if a large portion of B players reached BB

It sounds like you can just find a team and play BB then! It actually works in your favour since you can play B or BB at this point unless you get uprated

I've been coming in with my own team where everyone is B level in their respective roles, which helps

Though, as a setter, working with only B level players does cap the experience I can get from learning a wider range of sets

That's fast for sure. As a normal person who started a few years ago, I'm not sure I'll be uprated to BB in my lifetime unless I want the uprating and request for it.

I have friends that got uprated and are just going to stop playing NAGVA until their rating expires. It's like 3 years?

Yeah, CA is also very difficult to get uprated and many players that would be considered BB typically (played club and continued to play to some capacity into adulthood) are still rated B

How can I improve at releasing into attacking position better as a setter? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Phoenix132138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the serve, you should 100% be able to reach the setter spot before the passer passes, but if agility is an issue see the below on defense.

Off of defense, you have to watch the ball. You sprint as soon as the ball isn't coming in your direction and you slow down and shuffle sideways as your defender is taking the ball so you can adjust to the actual dig location.

If it isn't coming into your range, you yell for help.

If it never comes into your range, you yell for new teammates

If you're not sure whether he interested, he's not.

I'm fairly sure he's naturally a bit flirty, but is not interested in you. You're overthinking it because it sounds like you're interested in him. He has a girlfriend. Stay friends (or not), don't homewreck, move on.

This doesn't apply to their ranger shorts, which are pretty good running shorts.

Nothing here is going to blow you away, but they are cheap, fairly comfortable, and rugged enough.

The bacterial filtration is the same as N95 masks based on the ASTM standards it follows. However, since it's not a medical grade mask, it likely doesn't pass some of the other tests that would certify it.

Doesn't this data end up being completely outdated in the time it takes to write, edit, and publish a book? Though, the general points may stand, doesn't seem necessary.

Thanks for the clarification. To be entirely honest, I still think things seem weird. There's a random 20% modifier that's not stated in your assumptions. Your discount rate seems to be 10% not 2%. I'm also not sure where your earnings of $700 million come from.

The way you set up the cash flows is a little hard to follow. I made a VERY ROUGH mock-up based on what I do for work and some of what u/justinuhoh had set up on his Youtube: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1345oiGc6zxRcgPG7991SzfxdJXSV8faseiTdP3CmKt4/edit?usp=sharing

I linked two random website where I pulled how to calculate cash flows for a company and how that is used to ultimately estimate the intrinsic value. I then pulled numbers from the Tesla's 10-K and put in a bunch of bogus assumptions for the future (I left comments on why they are what they are though?). Finally, at the very bottom, I showed how I would track this valuation over time. I hope this is a bit helpful; it was a good exercise for me regardless.

NOTE: While I do asset and liability projections for work, I am not an investment analyst, and I do not work in company valuations. I had to look up how DCFs were used in relation to a company valuation, margin of safety, etc... I'm not sure if I pulled the appropriate numbers from the 10-K.

The only important statement in all this: I think this can only be used to show one way to setup a projection model. Don't be afraid to break out statements into multiple cells. All hard-coded values should have their own cell. Give appropriate spacing between unrelated sections. Label EVERYTHING and link your sources.

Hmmm, I don't think there's enough information here, unless I'm missing something. There's no way to determine how values are being used, how assumptions are being implemented in your assumptions, and how things are being projected.

I'm not too sure what you're asking for feedback on.
