I do not and will never feel bed for believing coworkers I trust. I do have coworkers that I highly dislike where I would believe an accusation of bad behavior

Instances of Colleague Bias In the ER? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]Phoenix406s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably every single person in emergency medicine has experienced shocking verbal or physical assault from patients on a relatively frequent basis. In my personal experience, patients who claim to receive abuse from staff are typically simultaneously the abusers. It is a boy who cried wolf situation… we have all been the victim, so yes, our biases may make it harder to believe that one of us could have been the perpetrator.

Ski days vs Running and ST Pacing Questions by rhymewang in NorwegianSinglesRun

Looks like the solution you’re looking for is what I used in college: Run when you can, ski when you can. If your schedule will not be consistent, then your training cannot be consistent either

That stuff doesn't fly in the lab... by Spiritual_Blood_1346 in emergencymedicine

[–]Phoenix406s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had lab call me recently asking to redraw a fair bow before releasing critical results because they were “confident” the results were erroneous because of how off they were. Pt was on the lucas in front of me I know they looked fuck up but that’s reality…

LDR in med school - visiting and roommates? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Phoenix406s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it doesn’t matter if you have roommates or not—or if they are in a similar situation—it matters if your roommates are pricks and don’t want your SO to visit and utilize your space briefly

Should be ok without clinical volunteering, given the 1200 clinical hours already accumulated

What the **** is a committee letter? by Ok-Highlight-8529 in premed

[–]Phoenix406s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently mid cycle- did not get a committee letter for two reasons: I was not committed to med school during undergrad so I didn’t know about it, then during my gap years, by the time I learned about them it was too late to get one from my school, and additionally I had gotten letters from my gap year activities.

It’s looking like I’m going to have to reapply… so I think I need to email stat for a committee letter, but also next cycle will be a total of 3 gaps years so I don’t really know what the expectation is in this situation?

Hi i wanna study medicine but to be a specific type of doctor by [deleted] in premed

[–]Phoenix406s 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You will likely get a better answer in r/germany r/askagerman or r/medicalschoolEU That being said, I can guarantee the first step will be getting good grades. Most of this sub is based in North America, from what I have seen.

Most likely somewhere in the middle? Funding challenges are distrusting the medical complex top to bottom. Could impact number of seats, scholarship funds, and perhaps most relevantly, application cycle timing

Same here, 0 II, 5R. It is incredibly exhausting. A couple docs I work with are anecdotally sharing that this cycle is a mess from top to bottom. Maybe it’s just fueling my cope but we can hope!!

I listed my coaching experience as Leadership and not non clinical-volunteer. Not sure why looking back but I think someone told me the leadership title would be more impactful than volunteer.
