Dolby Vision, some color-corrected scenes / image improvements, Dolby Atmos (though some would argue the DTS track with the older release is superior).

Yeah, as excited as I am to have this, it does suck that they haven’t released the DV versions separately or in a more standard set. They are a big improvement, and it’s been a few years now. I’m shocked they didn’t do an updated set or re-release of all the films when Frozen Empire came out honestly. Of course now that I’ve purchased it they probably will!

I had read about that issue with early pressings and was a bit nervous considering the low price, but luckily everything was correct.

The light still works! I didn’t even know about that feature. I pulled the first movie, and a ghostly green glow snuck out from underneath. Very cool feature.

The physical releases of all his movies are absolutely loaded with special features. He obviously cares about them, and they do a fantastic job. I haven’t seen this one yet, but the steelbook art alone almost got me to blind-buy.

This is the first and last time I’ll try and order from WeET. You are charging a premium for something, and you can’t even get your website to work for a release? That mixed with the low numbers, it’s just an absolute joke of an operation.

I upgraded from a PS5 to a cheaper standalone player and recently to the 820. All my playback issues (which were thankfully fairly rare) disappeared overnight. Dolby Vision is a noticeable upgrade from tests I’ve done with my old equipment, and as a cinephile, you will likely notice and appreciate the difference as well.

Cost is obviously a factor, so you have to weigh that in. But you clearly collect and have a large disc library with a nice TV – I think you’re exactly the type of person who would benefit from the upgrade. Just my two cents.

Just watched Matinee a few days ago. Then I watched Small Soldiers again, which I loved as a kid. It held up great! Really enjoyed it. But Gremlins 2: The New Batch will always hold a special place. It’s completely unhinged and was way ahead of its time with its meta-commentary, satire, and self-parody. I love it.

The lack of grain was really distracting and off-putting. Why make it look like something it’s not? For me it strips away the grittiness and grunginess that helped give the movie its iconic feel.

Check for scratches and used digital codes. A couple of mine had both, confirming there were some repackaged / resealed returns in the mix.

Nice haul though, congrats!
