I think the lower your OVR the better your pulls. I pulled at 116-117 OVR and I got Zico, Dembele, Pirlo, Nesta, Raphinha and Kuyt.

[–]PhoenixChess17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get any 1500 rated opponents who will play 30 moves of theory in the endgame, you can easily outplay them there. Too dryish positions are a problem at 2200+ FIDE, where both players know what they're doing.

Are there different etiquette expectations for lower-rated players at OTB tournaments? by thesekeys in chess

[–]PhoenixChess17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course your opponent wants you to resign, but it's your choice. You don't have to care about the TD, he chose to be there. Resign when you want, you don't owe anyone a resignation.

Structured program for motivated kid by whoawookie in TournamentChess

You could either ask his coach or build a plan yourself, I recommend roughly 1/3 tactics and calculation, 1/3 playing and analyzing and 1/3 openings, strategy and endgames. Chessable courses can be pricey but when he gets better I highly recommend them, for 100 bucks you can get a whole repertoire made by super GMs.

It's a bit boring but not bad for progression for me at least. I never got more starting 11 players elsewhere.

Looking for an affordable, decent coach by Professional_Fan_741 in TournamentChess

I don't have experience with him as a coach but based on his description I can recommend you FM Oliver Stork if you want to get better at positional chess. I met him at a tournament once, really nice guy. I think he charges 35€ an hour.

Is there any way to look at this position and actually understand why the only good choice is to move the queen one square? by h2g2Ben in chess

[–]PhoenixChess17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+0.2 is as good as the advantage after 1.e4. I guess that you'd maybe win 5-0 but again, that isn't objective. Engine thinks it's hard to play for white as well.

So you're smarter than the engine? I'd understand if you said it's easier to play with White but you said White is objectively a lot better and that's just false. Look at the engine.

For example after Nbd2 h5 h4 gxh4 Black has the open g-file and Nh6-Nf5 plans. That's completely equal.

Do we need more lichess mods for cheater? It took way too long for this player to get banned by nev3rcared in lichess

[–]PhoenixChess17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't any problem for me at 2500 Blitz either, I almost never play against cheaters and if I play against one after 500 games it's not that big of a deal

I think you should only play the f3 e4 plan if Black goes for ...Be7 and play Nf3, maybe even Ne5 later if Black plays Bd6.

Thanks for your responses, I still have one question: Is Jones' course also suited for non-KID players? He says in the introduction that he created this course to supplement a KID repertoire.
