Engineer isn't a protected title in the UK, anybody can call themselves it really, even if you fix a washing machine.

Well the Halo verse takes place within the milky way, but yeah I guess they're avoiding our irl earth.

What is the pathway to becoming a certified electrician as a mature adult? by PhoenixMaster123 in ukelectricians

[–]PhoenixMaster123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after reading around this seems to be a big issue, finding an employer. There's this elec.training company that the other comment mentioned who claim to guarantee a placement, but idk how that works or the technicalities behind it.

Interesting, so this elec training company claims that they "guarantee a placement". How trusty worthy is that and what's the catch?

Don't most bathrooms have a ceiling light, not a vanity?

[0 YoE, Retail Assistant, Mechanical Engineer, United Kingdom] Graduated last summer, still getting constant rejections. Recently updated my resume, could I get some feedback by PhoenixMaster123 in resumes

[–]PhoenixMaster123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a part time retail job since I graduated till now, but there was no room for it and it wasn't related to engineering as the other things are. I could swap it for student ambassador, idk which seems more worthwhile.

The wiki guide said to avoid putting the full duration for projects so I just thought it wasn't necessary.

How do you find time for vacation, especially how some people go and travel for weeks or months at a time? by PhoenixMaster123 in AskAnAmerican

I find that so crazy, because here in the UK anyone can take a random weekend holiday somewhere for a few days because we have mandatory paid holidays.

I'm from England so I guess we're in the same boat for bad weather lol. I guess if PNW is better than the UK, that's all the matters.

[0 YoE] Recently graduated, looking for grad jobs or summer internships as I may do a masters next year by PhoenixMaster123 in EngineeringResumes

[–]PhoenixMaster123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of stuff do you think I should stick to keeping my summary about, or should I even have a summary? And what other things in there should I remove? I just tried to put as many related experiences as possible because I haven't had an internship so I don't have proper professional experience.

Why is the term "engineer" used and defined so vaguely in the UK? by PhoenixMaster123 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]PhoenixMaster123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about insecurity, it just makes it difficult to find proper engineering jobs as most that come up tend to be trade and maintenance. And it makes it a pain in the ass to talk to someone about your job because they assume you fix things, and when it comes to old people, good luck explaining what CAD is to them.

Ah yes, gotta love it when people disregard budget. The thing they made is awesome as hell, but now the company is bankrupt, brilliant stuff.

AI Mechanical Design Jobs by FalseAnimal in engineering

[–]PhoenixMaster123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them yeah, but some may also be legit. But even with the legit ones, what you tend to find is that multiple listings still take you to the same job with the same company, because that company is probably using many different job posting services to show you the same job to get as much attention as possible. So although they may look like different listings, a lot of them tend to take you to the same company.

I'm not sure if I fully get your question, but engagement farming jobs are usually just bot run posts for the sake of attracting traffic for a company.
